It came to my attention that this Thursday (25 oct), Dutch TV will show a documentary called 'There is no authority but yourself' about the people that were Crass. It's gonna be a where are they now- type of thing and could be a very interesting watch.
It's on Nederland 2 , during the Holland Doc program between 22.50-23.50.
As I'm still left without cable TV, I'd be a very happy bunny if some kind soul could record it and pass me a copy... anyone?
cheers

Wow, that's really cool. I used to be a *huge* CRASS fan. Stations of the Crass may be the greatest punk record of all time. Didn't Steve Ignorant spend some time on the lam, hiding out in Alaska or something? Or was that Colin Jerwood I'm thinking of?
Tidal: They were an absurdist anarcho-punk band from the UK, who made some of the most inventive music punk ever came up with. In all fairness to them, they transcended punk, and were quite a bit smarter than their contemporaries. I agree with them about very little, but they were bloody brilliant nonetheless. They were political idealists who recognized the dangers of political idealism (cf. 'Bloody Revolutions,' 'Big A Little A,' etc).

Crass were the anarcho-punk band. All their records came in these fantastic fold-out poster sleeves. I still have a couple of their records that survived various burglaries and moves.Tidal wrote:What's Crass?
Edit to add: one of theirs I still have is the 7" single of Big A Little A b/w Nagasaki Nightmare

Um. Do I need to remind people about the "no weeding anything except by The Sisters" rule?
Thought not.
Carry on.

Indeed, I'd personally hate anyone to weed me a copy of this ace sounding programme, which I can't recieve in Spiggy's Towers due to a lack of cable TV. It goes without saying that I couldn't possibly trade a copy for anything on my DVD list, which is available via PM.markfiend wrote:Um. Just watched it. Pretty interesting; especially their way of living inspite of class differences within the band.
Would have liked some more music/concert fragments though.

You obviously never lived in Britain in the late 70's/early 80's! Love 'em or hate 'em, their influence was everywherepaul wrote:Have to admit that I never heard of them, but the documentary was quite interesting though ...
Great band, but with age a lot of their views seem hopelessly idealistic. Still, they did get me to think
