It's getting me down, it has to be stopped. Tonight I knew it had gone too far when The Mum came into my room and complained about the noise - could I find a feckin' handset to turn it down/off? NAW! but that's another complaint.
Why do adverts have to go to 12?
11 is fine, 11 I like.
please stop it ad agency munts - I may just track ye doon and stab ye... someday... just might...
2 replies max James?

Them advertisers know exactly what you do during their commercials.
And they want you to hear the important consumer's informations in *that* room as well. Even when you have the water running to wash your hands afterwards.
At least that's what I guess.

Actually I recon I didn't watch more than one or two films on TV this year as these noisy commercials not only p*ss me off, the walls of the house I live in conduct sound very well. I can't risc waking up my neighbours. So I can't watch films late at night.
And then, most of the programs are p*sh anyway.

I remember a time, before the private broadcasters took on the market at Germany, when the films on TV wouldn't get interupted.
*sigh*
Back them you could *enjoy* them!

I'm in Sinnie's camp on this one too. But yes, it is annoying any time I do settle down to watch Indiana Jones/James Bond/Willy Wonka over Chrimbo time. It's more a matter of heavy compression than simple volume though.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The only thing watchable on TV is occasionally some culture channels (like the German/French collab ARTE), very occasionally a couple minutes of some talk show involving politicians with the sound turned off (for studying their mimic; even then one can't stand it for longer than a few moments), and sometimes some late night rock/jazz/classical concert broadcast.
The rest is just very painful or very dull, or both.

I don't watch TV because most of the programming insults my intelligence. Also, I don't have cable TV, which makes the decision even easier.James Blast wrote:yet you will go to movie theatres and put up with much worsemh wrote:I'm in Sinnie's camp on this one too.

I rarely go to the movies because I can't stand people.
Plus, I can usually rent 2 movies for the price of 1 friggin' movie ticket. Pffffft!

A, I had a similar conversation about this when I was in England last week.
On my TV's set up config wotsit, there is a "leveller" which actually stops the volume going bananas when the ads come on.

The matching commercial for that TV set goes:Pista wrote:A, I had a similar conversation about this when I was in England last week.

I'm with Brother Blast on this one.
My solution is to record anything I want to watch on my HD/DVD recorder and edit out the ads before I watch the movie. Not perfect by any means.

We've got one of those too. Problem is it's not very intelligent, instead of just turning down the noise when commercials come on, everything is too silent when it's activated, even the bits in movies you'd want to be louderPista wrote:A, I had a similar conversation about this when I was in England last week.

Oh God, you are absolutely right. I cannot STAND the overcompressed sound of television and radio these days. I don't know what the matter is, but I find it almost painful. It absolutely kills me.mh wrote: It's more a matter of heavy compression than simple volume though.
