Surprising this hasn't been flagged up already, or perhaps it has and I'm just rubbish at searching.

But seems like pretty good news to me, always nice to have a genuinely new goth..... errr "post punk" album  :notworthy:

Looks like the first half of 2008 is going to be pretty special :D

Shame, saw them live twice last year and they were a shining example of all that is good and wonderful in this world... :notworthy: 8)

...okay, slight (very slight) exaggeration

Now get on dime and download one of last years gigs and enjoy

Merry Christmas :D

I liked In The Flat Field at one time.. Burning From The Inside was pretty dire, with one or two exceptions, and Lagartija Nick was excellent. But now it hurts to listen to them.

Guess I won't be buying it then... :(

You are too young to be that jaded Dark!

I won't be buying it, as I'm not that into Bauhaus, but I'll be listening to it on repeat courtesy of my girlfriend

Great news! Thanks! I hope they will throw in a "final tour" as well. Last time (and first :-) was brilliant!

Aye, they were fantastic on last year's tour. Kinda looking forward to this - the jury's still out on whether they can write decent new songs...

I really really hope there is a farewell tour to go with this.

(Then I can moan about how they never play the old classics anymore... :innocent:  )

Seriously, great news. :D

After also seeing them on their recent(ish) tour I can say that a new platter is most welcome.

Could be good, could be rubbish, but at least we'll get a new album.

More than be said for........well, you know.

I'm curious about the album.
the 2 new trackes they played on last tour sounded quite differently from the older stuff.

The brand new Bauhaus album was recorded in eighteen days at Zircon Skye in Ojai, with singer Peter Murphy, bassist Daniel J, guitarist Daniel Ash and drummer Kevin Haskins playing together as a band in one room, taking first takes as final cuts. So, a new record but apparently a final one, the band having decided to release it as a posthumous swan song.

'Go Away White' is everything you would hope Bauhaus would deliver as their final statement. Fronted by a cover photo of Bethesda, the angel of the healing waters in New York's Central Park, the music inside is pure-cathartic renovation, a psychedelic glimpse into an enchanted moment. Aided in part by guitarist Daniel Ash's inspired use of Jimi Hendrix's own personal Vox wah-wah pedal, gifted to him by Peter Murphy at the start of the sessions, it is pop as much as it is experimental.
Single takes? In the same room?

Intriguing indeed!

Peter Murphy wrote:Since Bauhaus are no longer a band working together, we are planning at least to release an album that was recorded in a stunning 18 day period including writing recording and mixing , and this should reach your doorsteps early 2008. I plan to play Bauhaus material from time to time from this point on in the future. This is a change from my policy over the years whereas in my own live work I chose never to play Bauhaus material, preferring to leave that to whenever the band were to decide to reform. Now that Bauhaus has seen its last incarnation as a bona fide band, the tours of the recent year and a half were our last ever. So from now on, I will incorporate my Bauhaus work into my solo concert work , since at least a part of my audience would like to hear it ,and for now it is something that should be celebrated.

Well, whether it's good or duff, it could hardly be much worse as a Final Album than Burning From The Inside, could it?

(I say that with the exception of Honeymoon Croon, Kingdom's Coming and of course the legendary She's In Panties :innocent:)

 Claire!

Antonin Artaud.
King Volcano.
Slice of Life.
Burning from the Inside Aside from the oh-so cheezy funky bits
Hope.

One of their best, IMO.
