Ghost dance : stop the world

The "karbon" ghost dance singles always had a special place in my heart, something that their debut album never had. Never bought the album as i had it on tape since the early 90s,was never impressed and finaly lost it somewhere between moving houses. Recently i bought it on cd on ebay.de and listening to it again changed my mind : almost all the songs are excellent even if the polished production dosent do justice to the songs and i miss Gary s raw guitar work
I read again Gary s story on the ghost dance site(which is an excellent reading btw)and i realy believe with the right guy at the production this could have a killer lp.
Anne Marie s vocals especially on "cinder road" are fantastic.

It reminded me a lot of Triffids's:calenture which was released about the same time and by the same company i think(..) Excellent songs that suffer from the "big" production, still a fine record though.

ps: even "celebrate" could have been a winner if the original wasnt one of my favourite tracks ever...

I absolutely love the album. Even the remade version of Celebrate (especially with the addition of keyboards on the single version), they're all ace songs. Yes, it's unashamedly pop, but it's still the best pop I've got. The title track, especially, a long stride away from River Of No Return, but still brilliant.
And totally agree, Cinder Road is one of the best songs ever. It will be played at my funeral. Loud. :notworthy:

I think I'm gonna have to put Stop The World on now.

Yeah, Stop The World has always had a special place in my heart. Bought the tape second-hand from 'Lost In Music' in De Courcy's Arcade when I was at Glasgow Uni. Ah, the memories...

I remember when i got home and played it...i haven't played it since! I thought it was tosh, Karbon singles were great. This wasn't, the live ep that came with the LP was good, I played that a good few times. I thought Cinder Road was one of the worst tracks just thinking about it gives me the shivers (for the wrong reasons) but then I haven't listened to it since it came out so maybe i'd like it now?

It had a Roxette feel to it, if i remember.

(ducks for cover).
