Currently Flooding ...

Where I 'live' in deepest Horrorfordshire it is getting pretty wet right now! - The Hindwell Brook is causing concern to those with both two & four legs and the Lugg is threatening too! (Ho Ho, so now you all know better where I am - if Ya care that is?!) I guess the Arrow has probably burst its banks by now, not to mention the Wye & Severn further downstream ...

So how is it where you all are?

Any 'Nautical Types' amongst Heartlanders? Should we be getting ready? Is this all Global Warming/Climate Change/The Apocalypse???!!! Is it what we deserve? Can you swim? Seen the Weather forecast? Do we care? Should we? etc

The cats don't like it for sure, and the rats have been busy with their gymnastics too (just wondering when they will be moving in?!)

I await your thoughts with interest ...

Hi
Just off to bed when I stopped by here.
My thoughts are with you tonight. Went through that all here in Sheff last year!
We didn't have power for three days ,but due to the joy of living on a hill flooding was very minimal, unlike the poor personages 500 yards down the road and to the left!

Mind you as I type Hillsborough is waterlogged again tonight and the rivers are rising pretty fast.
Good luck and may the morn still find you dry and earthbound.
And get down to the shops and buy some batteries in the morning before the crazy panic buyers beat you too it.
It was not a pleasant sight at Morrisson's when the Don did it's worst.
Have you ever seen two people fighting over a 9V battery?

Take care and good night!

Refer to that odd old book for the dimensions and start building the boat!

On a more serious bit: If your house/flat is in danger of getting wet: Sandbag walls work. But only if you don't fill the bags over two thirds.
Plumply filled bags will roll away and cause gaps in the sandbagwall.
My fingers are crossed all of you stay dry.
I saw two bigger high waters of river rhine when working for them. The good news may be that rivers that rise fast will drop fast as well, so let's hope for the best for all of you.

Nice tip about the sandbags ... I'm more worried about what comes bubbling up from the drains and the subsequent RATS - Do none of you lot have these charming little critters around you too? You are obviously not looking hard enough? - That or you don't go out in the dark which knowing you lot I find hard to believe ...

I live within 200 metres of the River Aire, there are rats around.

They don't come in here though, the dogfiend would have them right off.

Fortunately we're up quite a steep hill, about 15 metres above the water level. I reckon we're safe.

Yeah, I'm Sure you have lots of Rats!
- Can I borrow your Dogfiend please?!
- Is he/she a Jack Russell perchance?!
Nicholas (our Russian Blue cat) catches some when he can be bothered, but at the mo. he just sleeps a lot! - He usually just deposits them as a 'trophy' (expecting a reward doubtless?!), although sometimes they are decapitated ... !
What does Dogfiend do?

Do Buzzards catch/eat Rats?
Any-one know about this please?
Could I train them?!?

Does any-one have a pet Rat?!

Do I sense an Heartlander's 'Pet Corner' coming on?!?
- Has this been tried before/dis-missed/censored?

15 metres? - Is that enough, if this really is The Big Flood?! ...

Oh, and 'metres' - ? So 'Imperial' measurements don't do it for you, Kind Sir? Are you too 'Modern'/French/or just not bothered?! - Could this be another 'Topic' brewing ... ?! - If any-one else is interested?! (probably not, eh? - Save the Farthing etc. !!!)

Would it be a vulture like statement, to admit that I work for a company that specialise in drying out flooded properties and therefore, we think "FLOODS ROCK!"
