I've just been told that Tim has taken up the bass

If it's bass guitar, I guess I'd better pack it in and sell mine

If it's the chemical, good luck to ladies of late night Leeds

What do you need a knife for? Ram the headplate of the bass in and twist it!

Never stopped me. Second-hand £4 Encore bass bought from a church who tuned it up an octave to sound like a guitar, no A string... and that's what I taught myself on.

Only downside being now that I can't play a 4-string bass to save my life.
