Hm.
The last bigger fire in London wasn't that long ago.
Europe's most combustible capital at the moment, it seems. :?

not the bit that burned down...

correct me if i'm wrong but i think the bit that burned down was where Dusta Discs was, just on the north side of the canal before the railway bridge, if you're coming from Camden Town tube, and walking towards Chalk Farm...i believe that the Hospital area, which was/is after the railway bridge, is up for redevelopment...

any advances on this would be helpful as i was supposed to be meeting friends there on the 22nd

It's mainly the the canal market, the goth bit that's burnt down. Out of the tube station, turn right, walk right up to the bridge & it's the area on the right that was/is on fire. The bit where you walk down the tunnel, past Dodgy Dave the bootleg dvd/cd/video seller to the stalls. There's a shop called goth market that goes from the road right through to the stalls..... it was on tv last night with smoke billowing out. The Hawley arms is on the road that goes down the side just past that bit of the market.

We were in the Hawley Arms a few months ago - Gaz met David Guest, who called him 'his little man' and I'm POSITIVE I saw that singery bloke from Suede. I demanded that Gaz follow him into the bogs to check if I was right, but Gaz was having none of it - killjoy

I went to school in Camden and work with someone who lives very close to the fire. I'll be sad to see the Stables part of the market go and the side they are developing around Camden market is great- I couldn't give a toss abot the Hawley tbh...

Camden market is more fun in the summer and sadly it seems we are losing more and more of our old 'alternative' markets here in London

So the bit that wasn't earmarked for development now needs developing due to the fire? Why am I not surprised?

Never underestimate my cynicism when it comes to all things corporate.
