why...

by itnAklipse
...are people hellbent on artificial reality?

Why do we live vicariously secondhand through heroes? And ultimately we'll live thirdhand lives through virtual entities. Why?

What's wrong with LIFE?

Funny how life goes. Recently i decided to get rid of my stupid DVD collexion, and just today i read Morrison's the Lord and the New Creatures, which puts in poignant words exactly the phenomena which i became intitutivelly cognizant of a bit earlier.

Time to regain our birthright at firsthand lives and firsthand connexion to our Fair Sister, people!

Why are we so afraid of life that we want to substitute living for peeping? To give up our essence on the promise of a few hours more of comfort.

No more.

You shouldn't be on the internet talking to people you hardly know on the forums, you shouldn't be reading this freaking message. You should be out there, living. Dancing naked.

God, i love life. And i love everything.

And you people, fill me with sadness. But only for a moment, for when the dance moves me away from you, so will you be a distant voice from the past.

Just realised I've run out of credit. Will remedy this forthwith.

Sorry to be so mind-numbingly banal and inane in your revelatory thread, itnAklipse... see I'm talking to a very real friend about popping round his very real home tomorrow night. As people in this sterile virtual world you're harping on about so frequently do.

You'd genuinely be more than welcome to join us, though I suspect the idea of interacting in the real world with such brain-dead drones as us is vastly less appealing than whatever you're doing.

A word of advice - the feeling that you have a superior insight to most other people is a very common one after you've read a few proper books, and a very easy trap to fall into. I know I have entertained this idea in the past. But isn't that sort of thing best thrown out with the remnants of your 21st birthday cake?

I do actually respect your obvious intellect, Dei - don't keep doing yourself a disservice like this :|

Well if we never hear from him again we'll know he means business. Maybe right this minute he is dancing naked around a corn field, deeply inhaling the warm smell of summer. Image

I just spent the afternoon on the beach flying kites with my daughter , so I think I am perfectly entitled to spend some time flicking through the pages of this damn fine fourm and especially when there´s some great stuff about Tony James in sister chat .
Go and expose your own wobblybits to the public and leave us out of it.

I'm not so sure, in a recent post he wanted everyone to die.

If he doesn't come back and starts learning more about life and people, then hopefully he'll be less introverted, more open minded and generally a better person. Hopefully he'll realise how patronising, insulting and lockupable he's sounding now.
