Has anyone on HL ever seen these? Do you have any photos to show us? Any comments please? I was thinking about booking a holiday far up North round about Winter Solstice time to see 'em ... Just another Hippy Dream you probably think, but it's my money so I'll spend it on what I want ...

I've been to Northern Lights in Leeds - does that count..?

Seriously though, my Mam and Dad can recall seeing these from West Cumbria as kids - I never saw any when I was growing up.

On their numerous visits to Lapland, my Mam and Stepdad have since seen them in all their weird glory.

No, never seen them. But would love to...isn't Iceland a good place to see them?

Where I used to live, we saw them. Best displays were stupid o'clock in the morning. Pictures don't do them justice though. The best display I saw was like watching a liquid fireworks display.

Have a hunt through my gallery. I've got 2 or 3 pics.

Lived in Iceland for almost five years so I've seen it many times. I used to work at a place in the middle of nowhere and in the night we climbed this old crater, got drunk, laid on our backs and watched the northern light dance above us. No other light our sound troubled... fantastic, when it's really intense you can even hear it :D

To be even more nostalgic it's also very nice to sit outside in a steamy hot tub watching the northern light listening to Sigur Rós - gætis Byrjun...

Mate, good ol' sun's been taking a time out, not much use to go looking for them northern lights now. Wait a few years, until a couple of billions on tons of plasma got their arses into gear again and have flung out a few tons of purely magnificently luminuous sunwinds.

Definately, we only booked to go and see them as soon as we got to our hotel from the airport, one of those things where you would kick yourself if you didn't do it when you have the opportunity.
