CD Burner problems

OK, so I have bought a new Samsung CD/DVD burner and it all seems to be working fine......
until I burn an audio CD. I can hear what I can only describe as interference on the copy (which isn't on the original). This is pissing me off as I don't like burning coasters
I've tried burning with Nero and EAC with no difference.
Tried different makes of CDR with no difference.
Different burn speeds with no difference.
Could it be the cable (which is SATA or whatever it is called - not the IDE type)?
Any help gratefully received as I have a pile of CDs to burn and post out....
