French composer and renowned world music producer Hector Zazou in a French hospital on September 8th aged 60. Zazou had fallen seriously ill earlier this year and had to cancel several performances during the summer. Zazou has been working with classical, ambient electronic, pop, and world music artists including Anneli Drecker (Bel Canto), Björk, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Lisa Gerrard, John Cale, Siouxsie, David Sylvian, Suzanne Vega and many others. The best known albums from Zazou are "Sahara Blue" (based on the work of the French poet Arthur Rimbaud featuring David Sylvian, Anneli Drecker, Bill Laswell, Dead Can Dance, etc) and "Songs From The Cold Seas" (featuring Värttina, Suzanne Vega, Björk, Siouxsie and so on).
