Rehearsal room

I've always wondered, how do they rehearse / practice?

Did Von give his droogs a cd with the Doc on it and say 'see you onstage in about two weeks'?

I can't imagine seeing Ben, Von and Chris in the rehearsal room, standing in a circle suggesting 'will i put more feedback or not'? And 1, 2, 3, 4... start.

I know from a 'big' artist such as Tom Jones etc. he never ever actually talked to his live guitar player. They get their sheet music as a JPG, go to the venue, play live, leave.

If nothing else, there are the soundchecks. 8)

In 1990, Andreas had to produce sheet music for the new guys back in Puk studios.

More recently, legend has it that Ben and Chris were seen picking up copies of the three albums (and maybe SGWBM) in 2006, but that would have been a bit late if the tour was already under way.

I don't think Chris was particularly a Sisters fan before he joined. He was at one of the Blank Canvas Leeds gigs in '03, but he was handing out flyers (for one of his other bands IIRC).

there's a full studio in a hidden location* in Leeds. Same place the last lot recorded the tracks for the 'CD' that they didn't release

A very, very weird thing that such young guitarists now play in a classic band. I mean, you could've been their class mate while you were listening to The Sisters on your discman / walkman and thinking: jeez, what a c**t, this Ben Christo.

And then you discover, years later, he is in the band you admire and you travel to f**king Tienen or Portland to see your former schoolmate.

especially if you mention that Chris was on tour with them in 2005...

Slightly off topic...

When Andrew and Chris were looking for a second guitarist for the Silver Bullet tour they placed anonymous ads (not sure where), one of which Ben Christo replied to.
The audition took place 3 weeks before the Las Vegas gig. He didn't say where it was but he described it as if it were a garage of some sort (so, not like a house or anything). He didn't say where it was but he lives in London so I presume (the audition, at least) took place in London :)

Not me. I'm 10 years older than Chris; I dunno how old Ben is, I'd guess about the same age?

Chris, in fact, was a year and five days old when the Sisters played their 'first gig' on 16-02-81...

which is kinda the point...

when they each joined they were taught only the songs needed for the gigs they were playing. by the time they were both in the band and the 2006 tour hit glasgow they decided to check out the back catalogue so went record shopping in the afternoon

they've been known to spend a lot of time rehearsing during the day in the cockpit ( www.thecockpit.co.uk ) during the run-up to a tour.

i dunno about rehearsal space though. it used to be a cellar in burley park many, many moons ago, but i dont think that place is available anymore.

Hahahhahahaaahaahahhhaaahhhaaaaaaahahahahhaaa!

Gee, tom jones is a great artiste, isn't he?

That's why i always when think of listening to the Sisters decide on some tom jones gig instead.

FFS, ma'an.

Yeah, tom jones is a big artist. FFS, he's not an artist at all, he's a f**king ... dickhead. He is an "entertainer" in the very worst sense of the word. That's why any PROFESSIONAL does for him. What a cnut. i've never heard of this nonsense before but i'm absolutely sure you're right and it makes perfect sense knowing what i know. And it's a good example of why exactly i have SO MUCH respect for people like tom jones.

It's just ridiculous to think Herr Eldritch would do this. i mean utterly. Definitivelly.

The soundcheck I witnessed during Silver Bullet was a lot heavier on Reptile House material than the actual set. Probably a good time for exploring the back catalog. Seeing as how you really only have 2 live musicians with all else cared for by the Doktor, I imagine rehearsals aren't as complex as, say, with the current three-guitar incarnation of Iron Maiden.

The Mrs. says if she wins the lotto she'll let me offer to finance a Sisters tour, so long as I get to play bass. No denying they are good songs but for live work they are for the most part not terribly complicated, and with but 3 albums, SGWBM and the unreleased new stuff, the entire catalog is not that terribly vast. I'm also thinking that the Doktor knows most of it and plays it back the exactly same way, each time, at any hour must help.

Clearly you're talking about a different Herr Eldritch to the rest of us.
