According to the calculations of James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh (1581-1656), the first day of creation was October 23, 4004 BC.
So the Universe is 6011 years old today!

He worked it out by adding up all the dates and ages in the bible apparently. Among other dates he worked out, Noah's flood was in 2348 BC. (Pity the ancient Egyptians didn't notice...
)
