I've always been a fan of the track 'Anarchy' by KMFDM and have borrowed a load of albums from a friend. Which is their best album and which will I enjoy most?

I saw them every time they passed through Chicago over the space of 8.5 years (hmm...actually, I think I might have missed 1 gig due to illness). I've got volumes of their stuff; I'll have to go through it again to refresh my memory, though, because I haven't actually listened to it in ages!

My personal favorite is Symbols - heavy on the electronics and techno beats. Not sure if that's what you're looking for or not though. But then I'm not nearly as familiar with them as I should be.

Added Money, Don't Blow Your Top and a load of remixes to my iPod. Now adding Symbols on Nicole's advice. Thanks folks.

KMFDM...? SUCK!
Personally I really enjoyed the most recent offering, Hau Ruck.

the 12" version of
godlike is the only track you need though, tbh
drum machines, samples, distorted vocals, sampled slayer guitar riffs, girly backing vocals - its the epitome of early 90s industrial

First KMFDM track I ever heard - loved it. It was exactly the sort of music I was looking for at the time. I'm also a fan of Vogue - I've heard different versions, I'm still not sure which one my favorite one is from, I think its the single version. And Megalomaniac from the aforementioned Symbols is one of my favorite tracks. I tend to go for the more dance-y stuff - actually I first checked them out in the first place cause I was listening to a lot of Thrill Kill Kult, all sorts of Wax Trax stuff - I saw they had done a split single together - members of those two bands did a combined project too, Excessive Force. They put out two albums that were just re-released.

Fave tracks - including, but by no means limited to (in no particular order):
Naïve (first song of theirs that I ever heard!)
D.I.Y.
Light (including various remixes)
Liebesleid
Anarchy (Sex Pistols-esque riff, natch
\m/)
Son Of A Gun
Disobedience
Terror
Godlike
Fave albums:
Money
Naïve & Naïve/Hell To Go
Symbols
Nihil
...etc.

To start out I'd probably suggest the Angst, Nihil and Xtort trilogy, moving from lightning speed looped guitars, through to a bit more industrial sounding..
The MDFMK album is also bloody good and a tad more fücked up and overprocessed compared to their other stuff.
Best single though, Sex on the Flag for sure, the 12" is pure four to the floor industrial disco at its best... (toss up between that and Juke Joitn Jezebel really..)
edit: IF it's Anarchy you like, go for Adios/Attak as well, since they're roughly about the same period as MDFMK album and feature Tim Skold, who was partly responsible for their sound around that time..

All I have is Godlike, from the Hot Wired Monstertrux 12" sampler.
Excessive Force's "Finger On The Trigger" was equally amazing.

I see you already added "Don't Blow Your Top" to your iPod, but I insist you check out "Nihil" as well. And while you're at it, check out the older albums by Pig, alias Raymond Watts, who used to be in KMFDM. Well, maybe he still is, at least he makes occassional guest appearances on their albums.
And although most here will probably disagree with me, I really like "WWIII" by KMFDM as well. The track "Intro" is hilarious.

Oh and check out Shotgun Messiah's Violent New Breed Album, it's kind of linked to this since it was the final album of the band and the first indication of Tim Skold's Ultra-heavy Beat Sound..
(PM me if there's probs finding it...

One of the myriad of bands from the late 80's, early 90's I can't listen to with a straight face anymore. I had the misfortune of seeing them live... twice.
