i tried, i really did -i was going to cross it out half-way through the first paragraph- but i couldn't read beyond the "Mitch, 29" bit. i'm 38 and i'm too young to have been a punk first time round. "Mitch, 29" would have still been in nappies when "damage done" was released FFs.... and not even a glint in the milkmens eye when the pistols split up.

the original article wrote:Ryan, a musician and writer in his early 30s, complains of a peer who still dresses like a 19-year-old and has a 19-year-old girlfriend. "It's silly," Ryan declaims, "it's what kids do; when you get older, it seems like you should have a little more dignity."
Does having dignity when you're older really fit with the punk ethos?

it's hard to look dignified whilst kicking against the pricks. who the f*ck wants to look like a lady? won't catch me at it!

I've been caught at it twice but they didn't press charges.

Fully intend to embarrass my children, if I haven't rotted my genes away by that point.

Hell, we need the Veterans around to remind us how good it was!

Growing old is a pain in the arse at the best of times. Wikipedia any one of your heroes and you'll balk when you realise they are only a few years older than you - but still look great.

Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue :notworthy: :notworthy: is 52 (ish) yet if I saw a man his age getting on the 11A bus to town he'd get a thousand stares from the feral and the feckless who inhabit this city. I on the other hand would carry his shopping and pay his fare.

I'm 42, feel about 26 but would never go to a rock club again, last time i went I felt like I was there to take my kid home cos they'd missed the last bus. And I don't even have kids!!!

I'm lucky to still have a full head of hair and a youthful complexion
:innocent: So I don't actually look my age ( ahem). But I do feel sorry for the others of my generation who feel the same way but are fighting a war on two fronts. Old father time and their hair line :(
