World's most expensive shoes go on sale in London
The world's most expensive shoes have gone on sale at Harrods in London with a £1m price tag.
After a photo-call for the press, the shoes were locked away in a bullet-proof case where they will be guarded round-the-clock.
The shoes, inspired by the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, were woven from platinum thread and set with 642 rubies.
They were designed by Stuart Weitzman. £100,000 of the sale price will be donated to UK children's charities.
we truly are living in the 80s again. greed is obviously good.
and only £100,000 to charity?

What can you say? Frankly I think the worst thing is the fact that they've blatantly tried to salve their consciences at such an overwhelming tribute to greed and excess by making some kind of charitable donation!
Can someone hurry up and start the revolution soon? Please? I'm trying to think here, and all this gives me a headache.

If you've got the money, at least if you spend it it trickles through the machine. But you're right. It is a disgrace that something that expensive is being modelled by a girl with an eighties perm. The only thing that looks worse are the red sandals.
My twenty something year olds are only ever permitted to wear Manolo Blahnik kitten heels. So I'd use the money to make sure I have a complete range of sizes. And with the change, I'll buy 200 cases of krug which I'll use to wash their feet when they get tired.
Greed is good and I want more.

one has to agree with master margarita. the only thing immoral about them there shoes is that they're just plain tacky. further proof (as if it were needed) that you can't buy taste.
oh - and donating 10% of the sale price to charity? wtf is that all about? if they're worth a million quid then they're worth a million quid, if they're not they're not.
and if there's that much money being chcuked about for a pair of nasty sandals they could have spent some of it on finding someone attractive to model them rather than some lame spearmint rhino dancer on her day off....

Maybe the reason Von is after such a big record advance is beecause he's hankering for a pair.
