Dr. Jeep video - different mix?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I've only recently gotten into Vision Thing - always liked Ribbons, More and I Was Wrong, but didn't care for the rest of it until recently - and absolutely disliked Detonation Boulevard and Dr. Jeep. Well, I've now become a fan of it, and am addicted to Dr. Jeep in particular (haven't a clue why - I really disliked it for a long time )

Anyways - just checked out the video on Youtube (yep, hadn't seen it before  ) I could be crazy, but I swear the song sounds different. Was a different mix used? Or maybe the video I saw just had bad sound... it didn't sound nearly as good. I quite like the relentless guitar of the album track, that constant rhythm throughout the song, and I didn't hear it nearly as much in the video. I've been listening to VT a lot more than usual but I can't figure out why this of all songs is the one that has been stuck in my head for weeks, I keep repeating the lyrics in my head.

Dr Jeep and Vision Thing (and quite a few of the other songs on the album) do seem to make me want to go out, drive fast and raise hell though. Must be the kind of mood I'm in lately to be listening to it so much.

Video mixes are usually the same as Radio Edit's, so it will be slightly different to the version released on the album

I presume it's just the single version of the song, which was a remixed version of the album track.

Didnt improve the track at all though. Turds and polishing spring to mind :innocent:

Must admit loved Doctor Jeep. Any song that starts with the line 'Everybody shouts on I love Lucy...' has to be genius. Though you have to be of a certain age I guess to get the reference. Sadly I am!Always thought if ever there was a album that summed up the times we live in then Vison Thing was it. Proves that amongst other things Me E could make a damn fine political comment.

I feel a "Dr Jeep Society of Disapproval" coming on.

Never liked the horrid horrid horrid little thing.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Yes it is.
The album version feels more raw whilst the video/radio version has certainly been 'popped' up a bit for the charts.
It even featured in Beavis & Butt-head. :D

Dr Jeep...
The Extended Version is a masterpiece
Seconded. Let's hear it for trance-rock! I love the lyrics too... some of my favorite!

I actually dislike how it has been shortened live... but I deal with it.
