Portland News Breakers -- reviews of 22 November

The show was okay, I don't have the setlist since I didn't write it down, nor any bootleg of it (no recorder). There was no big surprises.

There was a decent size crowd of middle aged overweight gothic fans who greeted the band with great enthusiasm.

The show I think went on for about an hour and forty minutes or so and it seemed like Andrew was having a good time and enjoyed himself. There was no banter or talking in between songs and like the reports from all of the previous shows on this tour the vocals were way to low. I was in the balcony the first few songs, couldn't hear the vocals, moved down to the middle of the floor near the soundboard, still could barely hear him, and then finally in front of the speaker where I could barely hear Von singing. Though it was nearly impossible to understand a word he said.

Lots of smoke and lights and a mohawked guy jumped the stage during the final encore of Temple of Love sending Von's microphone sailing into the air and him vanishing into the fog.......the fan was chased off and surprisingly Von picked up from where he left off and still finished in high spirits.
Thought for sure he would have walked off the stage.

Overall it was okay, I wish the vocals were higher though and that was was only complaint.

I was broke and could not afford a t-shirt, it was either beer or a t-shirt and I chose beer, but I forgot what the shirts said on them but they were not the ones I have seen here in the threads (unless I missed it somewhere).

So there you go, a basic straightforward show that sound a lot like the bootlegs of other shows on here, and was okay. This Corrosion seems to be getting better though.

Cheers

from the seattle-thread:

Crash + Burn
Ribbons
Train/Det
Flood I
Marian
Alice
Giving Ground
Corrosion
Anaconda
Susanne
Summer
Dominion
Floorshow
On The Wire
Romeo Down
Flood II
Something Fast
Vision Thing
Lucretia
Top Nite Out
Temple

I'm assuming this is also the setlist for Portland, inasmuch as it says 'Portland' in teensie little letters after 'Temple'...

The portland show rocked! and so did seattle the next night. Everyone here who has seen the sisters in recent years knows the vocals are kept low. That's just how it is. Anyway I thought Andy sounded great both nights.
No logic either night. I asked Ben and Chris both nights about it and they told me they didn't know what set list they were using until they went on.

Really good, Andrew, that's the way to build a band.

Anyway, good to hear it still rocked! But I hope Logic comes back for Europe!

So there's only one step from hearing YCBTO live: distributing an illegal setlist onstage!

What's wrong with a bit of spontaneity?

To quote HMHB ~

Beware of the man,
Who only shows you the best bits,
And beware of the band,
Who type out their set list...

Actually that seems like a good thing - a sign that there are quite a few songs rehearsed. :D

Okokok, i give up, it's a good thing that Andrew decides what to play and that the guitar boys know most songs and all that :P

Interesting is how the "new" songs don't have a given place anymore in the setlist - that might be a sign that someone (the setlistmaker, aka :von: ) is getting a bit tired of them, and might try something new. Just for the variation. Why the hell would they otherwise write new material when they seemingly have no intention of releasing it? I have a feeling we will see a new song, either in California or in Europe.

Friends to me are of course laughing at this excitement over "maybe one new song after a couple of years". ha-ha :|
