The clipboard thread

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

LIME warns of global mobile scam
published: Friday | November 14, 2008

Regional telecommunications giant LIME (formerly Cable and Wireless) is warning customers to watch out for a scam which could use up the credit on their cellular telephones.

LIME says it has been made aware that some of its customers have been receiving calls or text messages from numbers starting with the area/country code +88213 with a request for a return call or text.

The telecommunications company notes that, if a call is returned to these numbers or a text is sent, customers will be charged US$15 or more than J$1,100 per minute.

According to LIME, this is a global mobile scam which is affecting many telecommunications companies.

Another regional telecommunications company, Digicel, had previously warned its customers to be on the lookout for prank callers.

(trying to establish whether or not my friend's Cheestring factoid of "the Earth gets heavier by about 100 tons a day from falling space dust" was true, that was what my calculator spat out as the equivalent increase of weight per second over the whole Earth)
