Just in from work and found excrement in my mail box -

May 1st - Vote BNP Scotland

Your candidate (can I put his name in Quiff?)

(Name of Candidate) is a 56-year-old father of 2 grown up children. He has spent the past 20 years working in Canada where he was active in politics. He has returned home to the UK to find a country that has lost its freedom, its identity and where crime, job insecurity and problems of uncontrolled immigration dominate the headlines.

They even have a website!

Candidates standing for Holyrood 2003

Regional Constituency Candidate

Glasgow Peter Appleby

Candidate profile

56 year old Peter Appleby is now a historical researcher specialising in medieval armour. He was born in Northumbria and left Britain to spend 20 years working in British Columbia providing security for the logging industry. During his time in Vancouver he helped develop the Reform Party in BC which is a populist, patriotic party with policies very similar to those of the BNP. Under his tenure as Regional Director, the party grew rapidly to become the official opposition to the ruling Labour Party.

JOIN US

The BNP is rapidly attracting activists from all the old parties as well as those who have never been involved in politics until recently. The BNP offers a beacon of hope to those who regard themselves as disenfranchised and who are thoroughly disillusioned with the antics of the four mainstream parties which no longer uphold the wishes of the vast majority of the electorate.

Many people can see nothing but collapsing society about them; a society which has become more corrupt, more dangerous, more violent, more selfish. This is not the kind of society we in the British National Party want to see. We want a cleaner, safer, more democratic and accountable society for all native-born White Britons. No longer shall Brussels, the USA or indeed any foreign power or undemocratic International body dominate us.

Britain deserves better than the mess our politicians have created for our country.

Freedom, Security, Identity, Democracy.

Freedom, Security, Identity, Democracy? My arse!

I think I've found the original version of their document:
JOIN US

The BNP is rapidly attracting idiots from their own tiny worlds filled with racial hatred, as well as those who have never had an opinion of their own in their life. The BNP offers a ready-made political agenda to those who are incapable of original thought and keen to jump on the nearest bandwagon of hatred and thinly-disguised scapegoating.

Many people can see nothing but collapsing society about them; a society which has become more corrupt, more dangerous, more violent, more selfish. This is the kind of society we in the British National Party want to see.
We also want a cleaner, safer, pinker and more fluffy society for native-born White Britons, unpolluted by racial minorities whoops, sorry I mean communists... no, not even them. Sorry. No longer shall Brussels, the USA or indeed any foreign power or undemocratic International body dominate us.
Instead, we will create our own undemocratic body of reactionary, neo-nazi pseudo-intellectuals who will not hesitate to govern Britain in their own narrow interests, persecuting anyone who disagrees with them or who simply doesn't look right.

Britain deserves better than the mess our politicians have created for our country. We are more realistic than to offer that. However, we can guarantee that it will be a Britain free from anyone who can't trace their ancestry back through 400 generations of lush, ripe, beautiful pure-bred Anglo-Saxons. Or gays. Or anyone else we can think of that we don't like very much.

Freedom, Security, Identity, Democracy*.

:notworthy: :notworthy: Hilarious! thanks for cheering me up, dude.

what these racist f**kers don't seem to realise is that 99% of Brits don't want recent immigrants to leave the country, we want the BNP and their supporters to leave the country ASAFP.

Just out of interest, who are you all voting for tonight?

ooooh... we're all so very liberal until we come across something we don't agree with aren't we...

the bnp have just as much right to stand for election as anyone else. and their twisted agenda is no more deceitful than that of "new" labour. you may find their views and policies abhorrent but responding with your own torrents of abuse doesn't strike me as the way to go.

it's all very similar to bush and blair's m*****n to introduce democracy in iraq in that you can vote for whoever you want so long as they've been fully vetted and approved.

top-notch staire on the other hand is to be very much encouraged. thank you mockie :notworthy:

I've got nothing against any political party standing for election, it's a free country.
The reason why I object to the BNP is because once their councillors are in power, they do f**k all. I was recently speaking to a friend of the family who is a councillor in Burnley, where BNP have a couple of seats, and whenever a meeting is held, the BNP members either don't bother to turn up, or they turn up and sit in silence throughout the meeting, as they don't have a clue what they are doing.
Yet the people of Burnley are paying their (not inconsiderable) wages, THATS why I don't want these twats in power anywhere near me.
I hate them for the same reason I hate every other Mickey Mouse party, they are just going along for the ride, and I'm sorry but I think the running of this country should be taken deadly seriously.

well at least we agree on that much

but this just seems to be a contradiction. if we're agreed that they're allowed to stand then surely we can't tell them what to do if they get elected? and maybe mickey mouse parties are the answer to breaking the current stale old first-past-the-post system in this country. surely we have to do something to get people interested in voting again. and i truly believe that it's going to take a far more fundamental change than letting people vote by text message

and I'm sorry but I think the running of this country should be taken deadly seriously.
me too. i'm passionate about it. i've spent most of this week haranguing people who just plain can't be arsed to vote. i don't care who you vote for but don't take your right to do so for granted...

Actually, this is true, isn't it?
This is not the kind of society we in the British National Party want to see. We want a cleaner, safer, more democratic and accountable society for all...
this sounds good, promising...
...native-born White Britons. No longer shall Brussels, the USA or indeed any foreign power or undemocratic International body dominate us.
...ouch, :urff: :( this doesn't sound that good or promising anymore
Britain deserves better than the mess our politicians have created for our country.

Freedom, Security, Identity, Democracy.
bla bla bla
Basically, from what i could gather by this, they say what people want to hear, things are bad, we can make them better if you vote for us, just like any demagogue politician does.
They have every right to exist and vocalise their opinions as anyone else, Britain is still a free country is it not? If you wish to maintain it as such, do something about it, vote for someone else, it's not that hard is it?

I'm not sure if i'm right, but i think what Richey meant was that people can't tell other people what to do, but i agree with you qb, it should work like that, politicians doing the will of the people and all that, that is democracy after all, but we all know how politics and politicians are.
Of course, i personally don't believe in democracy, but that's another story.

There are always minorities and extremists everywhere, both on the right as on the left, as long as the majority keeps a level head, things work out in the end.

fair point. then again there is a tradition of "outsider" parties getting elected and then refusing to participate in the bodies they've been elected to (cf. sinn fein at westminster).

i guess it depends on what the bnp's motives are when standing for election. i suspect they are less interested in actually gaining power themselves than nudging mainstream parties towards similar policies with a "show of strength".

the other question of course is what people actually expect when they vote bnp. again i suspect that most people who vote bnp are just doing it to give mainstream politicians a bit of a kicking. after all, like ziggy said, the bnp are very good at telling people what they want to hear.

at the end of the day, i don't think standing for election and doing sod all if you happen to win is any more duplicitous than getting elected and then totally ignoring all your manifesto pledges just because you have enough lobby fodder to push through whatever knee-jerk reactionary policy seems a good idea today.....
