If this is true, I am almost 100 % I am going. "Exclusive" opportunity is not a good enough description.

Can we expect Iran as well, maybe?

I'm having a hard time believing that :von: would play Israel, given his politics. Although based on some of his onstage comments during the US leg of the tour, he might have one or two interesting things to say to a local audience... :innocent:

I don't think the Sisters could pull a decent-sized crowd in any other Middle East country, so I guess this will be a complete one-off.

What realistic surprises do we have left, except in the Balkan and Latin America then; South Africa, Australia, Japan...that's it, right?

I would be inclined to disagree - Jordan and Lebanon have large populations of youth who are into western music, as does Iran but under the current regime I think it would be tough for them to get a license to perform there. The issue would probably be one of logistics and economics - if the current tour is anything to go by they seem to be favouring smaller venues these days, and there may not be enough of these in the region to make a tour viable.

Might be of interest to some people to know that another band are also making their first ever gig in Israel the same week:

http://www.depechemode.com/tour.html

By far the cheapest flights from continental Europe seems to be with air baltic. Around 250 euro return flight, with other airlines starting at around 400.

Looking into this very closely now...although it's worth remembering that one arrives about 3.30 am with most airlines, and that's where the fun really begins, with possible interrogations about the holiday plans...

Edit: vicus, of course, right after your Antarctica gig

One of England's leading "goth" bands, playing a slow, gloomy, ponderous hybrid of metal and psychedelia

As I don't read Hebrew, I'm going way out on a limb here, but if that's the venue they're going to play...concert hall seating for a Sisters gig? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Are Israelis really that polite/repressed?

Just hope they don't play Ribbons - the last line will have the locals scrambling under the seats for cover!

Ah, that depends a bit on the singer

(and I think they are much more used to Temple ´92 than to Wake)

Hmm. Like to see how Mr E would respond to sharing the stage like that...

No doubt :) But they'd still be hard-pressed to describe it as 'slow, gloomy and ponderous'

Well, the Mish went over there in 2006 and played two shows. It was mad apparently. Promoter had a large arsenal of weaponry at his disposal. Army everywhere. Crowd was good though as far as I heard. Don't expect any boots to come from it though. And I would loooove to be there when Ben goes through Israeli customs. ;)

I would appreciate some help with very rough translation of some hebrew words into english, needed for ordering some tickets, if there is anybody here with even a grasp of hebrew. I only need help so I can fill in the name/credit card number/adress fields etc.

Thanks in advance!
