The word is on the tip of my tongue, but let's say not quite authentic!

WE(f)
A(ke) Box Set - Currently at £200 which is about the price I paid for a copy in 1992, the seller was extremely slow (4 months) at delivering and it wasn't until Leeds finest had a chat with the dealer after several people had contacted record collector magazine that the item arrived.

pretty rare indeed ...
Why do you think it's a fake? Picture looks like genuine "printed-white-label-on-black-box-version" though ...

What's the difference between the fake and genuine wea box?
Seller doesn't give a full scan of the box due to damage (description only)

Not wanting to confuse anybody but I always thought 2 versions of the WEA box exist, one so called "black WEA box" (as on Popsike) and the "white WEA box" which pretty much looks like the item being sold on Ebay now.
I bought a copy of the white box (like the "fake?" one) several years ago and it origins go back to Gary Marx, so I considered the white box to be even more rare than the black one as it never turned up on Ebay before.

I'd heard of the two boxes as well but I guess a fake just did its job and became incorrectly identified as an original.

I have heard there were (are) 25 white ones and 25 black ones...
Still it's not clear for me which is fake/genuine of the white ones and which is fake/genuine of the black ones.
Are there special versions on those 4 records or just the common ones in a box?
Anyone pictures of the sleeves (if there were)?
Tx, tx, tx,...

Y sold a black box and a white box some time ago. I bought the black one (fortunately it seems). Y sold both copies for the same price, so I assumed he also thought they were equally genuine.
I also always thought they were both original ones. I'll post some pics of Y's boxes tomorrow.

Hi Paul, Y was the one I bought the white box from. Had not enough money to buy both boxes
So, congratulations, maybe you bought the right one
PM me if you need additional pics ...

There are 2 boxes one white one black, the white box is fake (but doesn't mean that it isn't rare) the black box originally came with 4 records standard pressings and a press release and photo, some of these box sets also came without the press release and photo! The white box ONLY came with the 4 records. If you have the white box don't fret it is still a rare item but it isn't the one WEA circulated.

2 versions of the fake actually exist as well
1. just a square white sheet glued on front (homemade)
2. the same square sheet is printed by printers into box lid

You have a copy of 2? Never saw that one actually, just the glued version.

The photos of Y's former boxes above show the printed white box (no. 2), that's the box I bought from Y.
Actually never seen the homemade one (no. 1), anyone has a copy or can provide a scan?

I thought Y's white box was a glued version, but it isn't so it seems.
A friend of mine wanted to buy the white box when I bought the black copy. All was arranged, but my friend withdrew in the end. Good for you VOC!
