Guitar tabs of the new songs

Posted: 15 Mar 2009, 13:15
by aims
Being absolutely useless at transcribing songs by ear, my ability to play Sisters songs is largely stolen from GTA. Alas that fades out around "Come Together". I can (roughly) play Slept, Summer, Suzanne and Crash & Burn thanks to the help of bits and pieces on here and rare moments of not-so-uselessness on the part of my own ears, but the others are a mystery to me. Could anyone point me in the direction of tabs for any of the new songs (heaven knows I could improve the ones I can already play...) or be kind enough as to post their own interpretations here? It'd be cool to have a full reference for them, particularly since they aren't on CD - might make them a bit more "real" in the internetty scheme of things.

Thanks... for the asking about tabs and for providing a fresh looking link.
It even has guitar tabs for 1959... I already have a guitar version I can
hear only in my head.

I may have to bust out and blow the dust out of my guitar this summer!

Well, I tabbed some Sisters' songs (Slept, Susanne, Afterhours, Alice, More, Lights) for Ultimate Guitar
(http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/sis ... y_tabs.htm).
Now I'm working on Arms. ;D
Check out my tabs and feel free to rate them and/ or leave a comment. :D

It always amazes me that amount of mistakes there are in online tab music. Makes me wonder if people actually listen to the records!

'K lemme see, i usually play Summer Like this:
Riff 1 ( repeat it 3 times i guess)
e|---------------------------------------
B|---------------------------------------
G|----------------------5---------------
D|-7--7---7H8*---7------(7)-7H8*---
A|-7---------------7-------------------
E|-5-----5---------5-------------------

*= U can Use Slide and not Hammer on ( I Preefer Slide)

Riff 2

e|------------------------------
B|------------------------------
G|-7----3----------------------
D|-7----3----5----7-------------
A|-5----1----5----7------------
E|------------3----5-------------

K, Now the part Hard to explain (i'm wrinting this with the guitar in hands...)

e|---------------------------------
B|---------------------------------
G|---------------------------------
D|-7---*7-7*---7----8---8-8-7-8
A|-5---*5-5*------5---------------
E|-----------------------------------

*Palm Mutes*

e|---------------------------------------
B|---------------------------------------
G|---------------------------------------
D|-7---*7-7*---~10--10--8--8-8-8-7-8
A|-5---*5-5*--------------------------

G|-4---7---2------
D|-4---7---2------
A|-2---5---0------
E|-----------------
(Do A Lot of Improvising in the intro, C'mmon , u can do it!, i won't 'll give some exemples 'cuz i'm a bad teacher and i can't explain =) )

(Now It's Like Palm Mute, Palm Mute, Open, Palm Mute...damn, just listen the music)
e|---------------------------------------
B|-------------------------------------
G|-------------------------------------
D|-77777-1010101010-1212121212
A|-77777-1010101010-1212121212
E|-55555- 8 8 8 8 8-1010101010
(i dind't count the number of times u need to play each note, so ...enter in the rhythim)

Arms is in drop d tuning.

Summer and Still are both in A and played using the open strings, not the fifth position chords.

See my version of Will I Dream to play it correcty :)

You chose a very kind way of putting it.
The Alice Tab is pretty mucho on target though. The tabs often still are good hints for starting with, but I never saw *one*, and that includes the ones in guitar magazines I bought, that really matched the actual songs entirely.
@Methedrome: The dropped d tuning is for all the new songs, isn't it? I didn't see Chris or Ben retune their guitars as often on stage, and there very surely is no Dropped-D-Tuner mechanic on the body of either guitar.

Edit: This is how the riff during the verse of Susanne looks like:

e-------------------------------------------
B----1-0-----1-0---1-----0-----1-0--
G--------2---------------0----------------
D-2--------2----------2-------2--------
A-------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------

e---------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------------
G---5-4--2------5-4--5----4-0------5-4----
D-2----------2------------2--------2-------------
A---------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------

Umm-Godsquad? I didn't get an edit-button here.. I had to quote myself (Which I hate, normally I don't quote nuttbags) and edit the qutation tags out..

@Methedrome:

Hmmm... I don't think that Arms is on drop-D.
Actually, it may be easier if you play it on drop-D, but I still believe it's on standard tuning.
Please gimme a tab of (new) Train!!! ;D

I have yet to see one that gets the part on the high e-string "correct"...

I still haven't seen one with the intro totally correct either!

The e string though, depends on which version you're listening to, original goes up, 1993 goes down mirroring the B string line.

That new FALAA from Chris Randell is totally off!

Please help me! :|

When I tabbed "Slept" for ultimate-guitar.com
( http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/s/s ... in_tab.htm )
I was pretty sure that the main chords on riff and verse were Am, C and Em.
The other day I suspected (!) that it's a Bm instead of Em.
Could someone who knows confirm about the right thing?

...please... :)

Em

I just listened to this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_HuSznJ ... re=related

the bass plays an E with the B-C-B-hook.
I hear Em on the guitar but I can't be 100% sure. Bm just doesnt sound quite right but my hearing ain't what it used to be :)
