Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

My own spaceship.

What kind of book are you writing? Crime fiction? Or non-fiction?

I imagine it wouldn't be very nice to do. And a bit of a hassle after- you know, prison, family/friends upset, family of victim not too happy either, court cases, press, rest of life a mess etc etc.

And all for a bit of research on a book. I can't quite see the pay off.

And while we're on the subject, I'm not quite sure I agree with torture either, unless it is consensual.

Uhm, it is a book about a girl searching for the key to her soul. It is some fiction and some facts from my own life, like paranoias and things like that..

So I got more than 3 replys, does that mean I will get to strangle someone? :innocent:

I know, lots of s**t would happen. But the strangeling part is not for the book. I just simply would like to do it. Not saying i actually would.. But fantasy is a great thing.. Also like the idea of torturing someone. That is why Ill have it in my book. Kind of a way for acting out..

I think you're right Andy. But having a spare moment, I tried a google search on "torture, definition" and interestingly, whilst there are a number of definitions, all of which involve inflicting pain or suffering, many are silent on the consent point.

This is probably because most definitions are contained in international treaties- as torture is more the stuff of amnesty international and the like, as opposed to Dixon of Dock Green. And whilst domestic law is precise and follows a certain logic, international law, and international movements, tends to be characterised by fuzzy thinking, imprecise and half baked ideas and enough contradictions to justify...oh, well you choose.

Anyway, back to Lynch's favourate topic, if someone says- torture me- does that mean that this is an impossibility, as torture needs to be non-consensual? I expect the answer is that legally it isn't an offence, as you asked for it (tho' note that you can still be guilty of an offence even tho' someone asks for it), but in common parlance, you could make a damn good fist of torturing someone who consented to it.

All of which is pretty irrelevant and doesn't help on the key issues of next week's lottery numbers. They are: 13 19 5 9 25 4.

And one last thing. Lynch, research or not, strangling is not a good idea. Give it up.
