Has anyone else pondered on how the lyrics to most of the 'new' Sisters songs look absolutely awful on paper, yet sound storming when you actually hear Von belting them out?
Take 'Summer' for example:-
talking at each other
walking into walls
walking into wishful
I've heard it all before
another shade of empty
another shade of blue
another shade of yellow, sunset yellow
another shade of you
can make it summer
and make it shine
it's raining in the doorway
paint your face once more
paint the walls away now
I've seen it all before
another shade of empty
another shade of blue
another shade of yellow, sunset yellow
another shade of you
can make it summer
and make it shine
It's the kind of thing an 11 year old would write on the back of his excersise book during one long, boring maths lesson.
Yet When it is sung, it is somehow transformed into a poetic, powerful song (It's actually my fave new Sisters song).
War on Drugs is another good example:
CHORUS-
wah-hoo
let's do the war on drugs
wah-hoo
let's do the war on drugs
seven shades of shiva rising
let's do the war on drugs
It reads like the sort of think Damon Albarn would write, And yet when I hear it live, It's fantastic.
