New Tunes

Has anyone else pondered on how the lyrics to most of the 'new' Sisters songs look absolutely awful on paper, yet sound storming when you actually hear Von belting them out?

Take 'Summer' for example:-

talking at each other
walking into walls
walking into wishful
I've heard it all before

another shade of empty
another shade of blue
another shade of yellow, sunset yellow
another shade of you
can make it summer
and make it shine

it's raining in the doorway
paint your face once more
paint the walls away now
I've seen it all before

another shade of empty
another shade of blue
another shade of yellow, sunset yellow
another shade of you
can make it summer
and make it shine

It's the kind of thing an 11 year old would write on the back of his excersise book during one long, boring maths lesson.
Yet When it is sung, it is somehow transformed into a poetic, powerful song (It's actually my fave new Sisters song).

War on Drugs is another good example:
CHORUS-

wah-hoo
let's do the war on drugs
wah-hoo
let's do the war on drugs
seven shades of shiva rising
let's do the war on drugs

It reads like the sort of think Damon Albarn would write, And yet when I hear it live, It's fantastic.

:D You managed to both pay tribute to and insult Eldritch at the same time. Well done. Maybe you are right about the new lyrics though.

I first met the new songs in lyric form on the net, hadn't heard them. I was surprised how sparse they were too. I'm not going to go counting words, but most seem terse and minimalist compared to some earlier songs, and less reference-heavy. My guess is that this is influenced by the style of Adam Pierson's music, although I can't quite put my finger on how. But I really like them, so I'm not complaining. Anyway, they may never be released, except perhaps on the live dvd. I spoke to Chris Starling recently and he said that any future record would be likely to feature entirely new songs.

"summer" is a classic sisters song both in music and lyrics.
He should be crucified for not releasing it.
the song is simply a MASTERPIECE.

if you know any 11year old who writes that way, has a big mouth and likes Motorhead
then keep an eye on him, you never what he might become :D :D
