On the frontcover there is a symbol, does anybody know exactly what it represents?

I got that tattooed on my arm years ago. I asked Wayne about it and he said "I have no idea probably some Japanese crap that Andy was into at the time"

Good enough for me!
If memory serves, it showed up first on the Walk Away 12" and - I think - was used on the Black October tour. Given the tendency to - ahem -
appropriate cover art from various sources, I wouldn't be surprised if this had originally come from a print or painting or similar.

Well it is a crescent and a line. I guess the line represents the horizon.
Maybe sunrise or sunset?

Von might have had a japanese crest in mind but I think it's probably something he designed himself.

One needs to be able to count to higher numbers than three for it.
Nope.
7th of first row or 8th of 8th row.

At least I now know what this is supposed to mean:
For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, in fact. But not in your galaxy.

I found this symbol before many years in a book of astronomy.
According that book, this is the symbol of Charon planet, which is a kind of Pluto's moon.
Charon was also the ferryman who ferried the dead to the underworld (in Greek mythology).
I took a quick look on the net and I didn't find the symbol exactly.
But I found that:
