anyone on here have much experience of skype?

i have a skype account which i set up a while ago to test the service but i've never used it

i think my account has been hacked :o

this morning i got 3 emails from them (legit too! not even phishing emails)

- the first one said my currency had been changed from £ to US$

- the second said that someone had purchased $60 of credit on my account
Product name: Control Panel Credit in value of 60 USD
Total amount: $69.00
Transaction date: Jun 10, 2009
Order number: 298000419
Order status: Delivered
- the third said someone called "Diane Turner" (who?) had added some credit to my "business control panel" (what?)
You have just been allocated some Skype Credit from the Business Control Panel: Diane Turner
i logged in to my account this morning and it said there were 3 calls made on the morning of 7th october, and that the account now had $43 in credit remaining :urff:

i clicked to view the full call history and got this: :o

i've had a root around the skype forums and it seems that the best way to contact customer support to flag stuff like this is to PM one of their moderators, which i have now done

but come on! the best way flag up security & account hijacking concerns on a big money-earning service like that is by PMing one of their forum moderators?

ffs.

anyway, we'll see what happens.

it doesnt look as if i've been billed anything personally, thankfully.

if i'd had it set to automatically top-up my account from paypal i'd probably be well screwed :urff:

Hellfire! Keep us posted Boss, this is alarming stuff. I don't use Skype myself, but it's good to be forewarned about the dangers before dipping in...

Luck!

just a quick follow up on this...

after i changed my password and removed the additional account name that was authorised to use my account, everything dodgy stopped.

i reported it to skype and they confirmed i had been hacked... for a couple of weeks my account said it was locked while they investigated it

i've just logged back in for the first time since then and it all seems to be fine now

the only anomaly is that i still have $43 (£25) credit that the hackers put into my account before i locked them out

i dont actually use skype, so will probably never use that credit, but still.... i like the idea that i got 25 quid in credit out of them ;D

That's s**t. All I can say is I've been a regular user of Skype for a few years and have never had any problems like this.
