from what i've heard, shortly after ssv he spent a bit of time playing around with synths in his bedroom. as well as the ssv guys he'd been hanging around with a few types who were into that kind of stuff (dave beer, possibly, as he was an old member of the sisters crew?)

my assumption is that being around people into that kind of stuff made him think he'd try his hand at it too.

a couple of people i know claim to have be played some bits of it in his studio, but that might not be 100% true.

they said it was pretty terrible though

either way, nothing solid came of it - it was just a typical "bedroom band" project: half a dozen potential names for the project (leeds underground, paris riots, etc), a few hald-finished ideas for tunes, but no finished output....

caveat: that's all 3rd-hand gossip however, so don't take any of it as fact. probably the only thing you can be sure of is that none of it saw the light of day.

At the relevant moment in time, :von: himself had been talking about it in some interviews ... so gossip - more or less ...

Depends on the ambience you're looking for, dunnit.

Phantom and Sandstorm are sort of trancifically ambient, though, no?

Ha, next question ... hasn't Phantom been written by Gary Marx and Craig Adams?

Not quite accurate Barry - Paris Riots stuff has surfaced in the form of Jacobs Ladder, there was a thread on here ages ago and this was a collaboration with James Ray.

Each to their own :D

It reminds me of some old Tangerine Dream and Hawkwind intros.

there's a band called paris riots doing the rounds at the moment - i accidentally caught them once supporting someone else. young(ish) indie nonsense, and absolutely no relation to von's side-project.

@ the-happening: cool. i didn't know that... must have missed the thread. thanks 8) :notworthy:
