New user saying Hello

Hi everyone,

I was asked to introduce myself upon joining in here, so that's what I'm doing.

I'm 36 now and married with two kids. I'm from Leeds, UK, but moved to the USA a few years ago. I was into the Leeds goth/punk scene during my teens and 20's, (it was an incredible place to be back then --- I used to frequent The Phono, Chocolate Factory, The Duchess, The Fav, etc. etc. Pretty much every night there was somewhere good to go or a good band to see.)

I've been into the Sisters since the early/mid 80's and have seen the Sisters play live many, many times, (although only three times this Millennium oddly - twice in Leeds UK in 2002 and 2003, (Blank Canvas and Leeds Uni), and once in Colorado, USA last year, (Ogden Theatre).

If I was to pick three favourite Sisters tracks I think I'd choose; Emma (the Hot Chocolate cover), Ribbons & Alice.... although that is just off the top of my head and has probably already changed again before I end this sentence... I could probably more accurately give my favourite 50 Sisters songs.

Nice to come across this site, I look forward to reading through the archives and hopefully conversing with other users.

Cheers,
D.

Welcome to HL. Nice first post.
Have you seen them live in the 80's?

Hello D,

Mmmm, I wonder if our paths crossed? I was around the same places from 89-93 (I'm 38 now). Are you living in Colorado, now? I'm living in out in California...

Welcome!

Hi again,

Ozpat - no, I wasn't lucky enough to see them in the 80's in any of more publicized lineups - I think it was well into the 90's before I first saw them. To be honest, I was still at school until the 80's were out so didn't have a great deal of cash to spend on seeing bigger billed bands, (I think I pushed the boat out once or twice to see The m*****n at Leeds Poly, and The FotN at Leeds Uni), but other than that most bands I went to see were just a few quid in the Duchess or similar small places --- Rosetta Stone, Salvation, The Rose of Avalanche, Ghostdance, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Gay Bikers, etc.

NDMS: Yeah no doubt our paths did cross! No, I'm not in Colorado, I'm just over the border in Wyoming, but no bands ever come here, (well other than country stars during rodeo season!), so we have a couple hours drive to Denver to see anything worth seeing.

1990? On the Elizium tour? I was there.

Also at plenty of goff shows at the Duchess in the early 90s, and I virtually lived at the Phono from 1990 to about 93. Probably bumped into you at one time or another. 8)

Welocme! Ah I was there at the Nephs at Leeds Uni also. Can't remember if it was the Elyzium tour or not though. I was also at the one where the BBC recorded it. Was that Sheffield or Leeds? Can't quite remember. Anyhoo welcomes (from a vaguely new person )also!

Hi, welcome here ... :D ...

So perhaps you've got some information on the F-Club which I (or you)
could integrate into the Sisters Kawa, eh Wiki???

I think there really should be some information 'bout it there ... but I can't

a) do everything at one time and
b) have not yet found something about it ...

greetings and welcome again ... ;D ...

@Being: As far as I know, the F club didn't exist by the time I arrived in Leeds in 1990. I rather think that it stopped existing some time in the 80s when John Keenan moved on to the Duchess of York.

(I am open to correction on this score.)

this stuff probably warrants splitting off from this "hello" thread...

here's a list of events that john keenan has promoted in leeds

http://www.liveinleeds.com/30jfk.htm

it's still only half written and goes up to 1979... you can see the f-club is listed there

there is an email address on the page - i guess you could always drop him a polite email and ask him for more details about the f-club and about the futurama festivals? ;)

he's on facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=502437618

20 replies and nobody has asked the obligatory questions?

1. With Beard or without?

2. Which Album, and why?

3. Gary Marx or Jerry Wayne Lovelock? :innocent:

4. And finally the one question to which the answer will either make you very welcome here, or be sent to stand in the corner with Izzy HaveMercy - "You Could be The One....."

:D
