NME Top Fifty Albums Of The Noughties

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Damn!! I've got 7 out of the top 20...

1. The Strokes - Is This It
2. The Libertines - Up The Bracket
3. Primal Scream - xtrmntr
5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell
8. Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
15. Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
18. The White Stripes - Elephant

then nothing but the odd MP3 track
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

28, 34, 36, hut, hut, hike!

Of those, the Johnny Cash one is fine, but I'm not a fan.

The Grandaddy sounds like Neil Young at his most mawkish, indulgent and somnolent. Nothing wrong with that if you're Neil Young, but Grandaddy ain't Neil Young. I remember liking Crystal Lake.

The Spiritualized is bombastic nonsense, but not in a good way. Typical NME, even when they pick a good band they have to select their worst LP.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Why does anyone care what the NME says?

Only three, but they're all in the top 15

6. PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
11. At The Drive-In - Relationship Of Command
15. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf

I think that is possibly the worst list I've seen in my life.

What a big pile of rubbish. NME is Dead.

I've got two: LCD Soundsystem and The Knife. Both good albums but I can think of plenty of better ones released this decade, none of which would make it anywhere near a list compiled by the NME. Does anyone actually give a f**k about that children's comic these days? Strokes, Libertines, Arctic Monkeyzzzz ... Christ, I don't know - when did kids become so undemanding? (To paraphrase somebody or other).

I'm a rebel, I know :P
Okay, I'll confess... I own these:

6. PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
7. Arcade Fire - Funeral
8. Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
15. Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
18. The White Stripes - Elephant
25. Rapture - Echoes
27. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
28. Johnny Cash - Man Comes Around
44. Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
50. MIA - Arular

2 or 3 of that list I couldn't live without, the others are good, but far from essential

Great albums this past 9 years, well Go Away White by The Bauhaus comes in at numero uno for me.
After that I'm strugglin'... let's see...
Roger Waters ~ In the Flesh (2000)
The Chameleons ~ Why Call It Anything? (2001)
Secret Machines ~ 3rd (2008)
Friendly Fires ~ 1st (2008)
White Lies ~ To Lose My Life (2009)
Bat for Lashes ~ Two Suns (2009)
White Hills ~ Heads on Fire (200?)

big gap between 2001 and 8, most modern music is 'indie landfill' :|

this should end this post.

well ok i'd choose: electric six 'Switzerland', eveythin by Beck accept 'odelay' and a bit to emo 'sea change' BOC 'geogadi', Eno & Byrne, FGG ( have you forget about this 'oh, James'), Cale 'black acetate' and 'alles wider offen' by EN.
