Top ten great singers who can't sing

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Distinct voices are often somewhat inaccessible, it can make them great or just a plain fcking noise dependant on your opinion.

Brian Molko sometimes sounds like he's dropping a months worth down the pan but I like it.

While Matthew Bellamy's whine and difficulty in breathing between lines*words joined together not coca-caine is f**king annoying.

IMO ;D

marc almond went downhill after he had formal singing lessons. his technique improved greatly but the passion, yearning and soul went from his voice - compare and contrast the original and the (bland) re-recorded versions of 'tainted love' and 'say hello...'

being pitch-perfect with fabulous breath control isn't the be all and end all.

Tricky.
Has evolved from great singer who can't sing to great singer who spends more time shadow boxing than trying. Awesome though!

Neil Tennant.
Because he is. And anyone who says he isn't is wrong.

Billy Bragg.
As above.

Always wondered who is competent for this kind of judgements. Anyway, I strongly disagree with Nick Cave as a choice, but then I am not competent and I am biased.

There's a bunch of metal / hard rock vocalists that belong in this group, let's say Ozzy (whose vocal expression sucks today regardless, but was great in the past) to mention one of the more characteristic voices.
