2000 Hamburg 4

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I'm off to Hamburg for my brothers stag in August.

Anybody been recently? Any suggested hotels that are good/cheap/central?

:D

If she's a Berliner then you should have her for dessert, but if she's a Hamburger then you could have her for a main course [rimshot].

Last time I stayed in Hamburg I slept in a tent provided by the Arbeiter-Samariter Bund (it was long long time ago) - but if you want cheap and handy for the nightlife I'd go for the A&O Hamburg Reeperbahn. Let's face it, all you want is somewhere to sleep off the booze and wash off the tarts' perfume, right

I live near Hamburg so there was no need for me to ever spent the night in a hotel/hostel there

From what I heard the A&O Hostel seems to offer a very low price and half-way "OK" conditions. You'll probably need a robust sleep there

You may also check out the "Schanzenstern":

They offer two locations - the "Schanzenstern Altona" seems to be the better choice according to the opinions I heard.

I can vouch for the Hotel Stern (which now seems to be taken over by A&Q). Good location (end of the Reeperbahn) but set back a bit so not too noisy. Accommodation is quite basic but clean with a decent breakfast. And it's relatively cheap.

Monopol on the Reeperbahn is probably worth a look, haven't been there for a while but was very reasonable with decent breakfast :)

there's an IBIS about 2 mins from st. pauli & the reeperbahn

http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-368 ... ndex.shtml

we stayed there last year when we went to see the sisters...

it's an ibis so it does exactly what it says on the tin, and it's in a very central location 8)
