just bought some new ceramic crimpers. heat up in 0. 00001 of the time, get right proper hot, and crimp properly with no additional hair product. not bad for £20, innit. and they're still babyliss, so tradition not entirely out of teh window!

remember my first crimpers i asked my dad for on my tenth birthday present and that's what i got.

i've still got my original ones! but they're not great, anymore. these ones are the dog's doodahs.

which I counteracted with a lot of swimming in a pool with a high dose of chlorine ... took at least the worst off ... ...

anyway, I don't mind if other people like to do whatever with their hair ... often enough it does in fact ... look good ...

See, I'm using a pair of old ones (with a red plug!) and as long as they still have life in 'em I'm avoiding modernising.

Especially since mine are 5 rows (as opposed the the 3 or 4 on the new BaByliss ones).

even so, maisey, they're a darn sight quicker! you don't have to press so hard, and they're so hot, it's holding without hairspray

my first ones are boxed somewhere in s.a. i hope. but will invest for my chickie with straight hair. when i get my hands on those with my hair, it gets so big. hmmm... back to the days with the punky, siouxsie look in hair!

with purple bits but getting purple on top of black. will need to go blonde first to catch the purple bits. okay another project on the list time for myself.

I have an old set with gold plated ridges, for real! They are the bees knees and have the 4/5 ridges so are pretty quick to use, used to take about an hour to do the lot (LONG hair). My back up ones are useless, but good for travelling coz they are light. Have crimpers will travel!

I don't have enough hair to crimp it anymore

but I see that as a bonus as I can wash and towel dry and go!

I think I've only ever crimped my hair 3 times (none this millennium). On every occasion I just looked like a fraggle.

I used to get called Red Fraggle - long red crimped hair, occasional piggy-tails when a bit squiffy... ah memories

My other half gets called that from time to time... No idea why.

indeed it does. i used to get called red fraggle a lot as well. the dj at our local disco used to announce 'fraggle's arrived' when i wandered in.

There was a couple used to hang round on the Leeds "scene" called Vicky and Fraggle, nice people, anyone remember them?
