as if the storylines, acting and period detail aren't enough

the delightful Ms. Christina Hendricks who plays Joan told Elle magazine:
"I was a model, living with my two best girlfriends, who were teachers. There was a pace and sense of humour I was drawn to, like the people you meet in the pub. We lived near the women's prison, in Holloway. But there was a good Waitrose there."
It also turns out that she's a Goth: "In my heart I still am. I had the high Doc Martens and the leather jacket, black hair, black lipstick, a gauzy dress, a concert T shirt and thigh-highs. I was really into The Sisters Of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, classic stuff".
