Is this popularity due to links from people's homepages, word of mouth or what; or maybe the meta tags described elsewhere. Either way, it's a huge increase in Presence!

In fairness, the percentage of actual posters is a lot less - some of the people who signed up in the first couple of months haven't posted even once. Might be a case of forgetting passwords...

Still, don't you feel like purging it a bit? (it would sure free up some usernames)

a few of those were from just after it went live, and were a result of me asking people to sign up

stats-wise there are about 100 members who have never posted, but there's still about 50 posters who have made 100 or more posts. that leaves about 180 who have made between 1 and 100 posts.

someone once said that on a forum its only usually 10 percent of people who make 90 percent of the posts. how does that figure compare with HL? any stats monkeys out there wanna make the calculation?

from what i've seen there tends to be a hardcore of about 30/40 people who regularly post at any one time, and another floating pool of about 10 or so people that post for a while then disappear, to be replaced by other new members.

on the whole, i'm quite happy with the way stuff is progressing - HL was intended to be a community for people to chat about anything, and a resource for people to find out sisters information, ask questions, make trading/gigging contacts, etc etc - a more "open" version of dominion, in essence. and i think it's doing that just fine.

but there's always room to take stuff forward

in short, though i'm not actively promoting the site in any way (i have flyered smurphs gigs before now), if anyone wants to suggest things i could to do (or that they want to do) to get more members & regular posters then i'm all ears
