New Model Army - 30TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS

30TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS

We have always been a band concerned with looking forwards rather than back. However, to mark the 30 years, this autumn we will indulge in a moment of nostalgia and pride in what we have created. Each weekend we'll be in a city for a two-night stand. The format of the shows will be very similar to what we did in 2000: two sets on each night - the first starting acoustically and building up over 50 minutes or so. Then a short 20 minute break before another full-on set of up to 100 minutes including encores. The following evening we will do the same but with 100% different material.

Our promise is to play at least 4 songs from each of the 13 studio albums (including the two B Sides/Lost Songs compilations). These will not be played in chronological order, or album-by-album, but a random choice. It's possible that we may also feature guest appearances from one or two friends and former members on some nights but nothing is fixed at this point. We hope also to include a display of at least a small part of the New Model Army 'One Tribe' Exhibition of original artwork and memorabilia - depending on the nature and geography of the venue and other ‘logistics'. We will make further announcements as the shows get nearer.

The following weekends are now 100% confirmed (all are Friday/Saturday, except in Germany where they are Saturday/Sunday). We will give ticketing information as soon as we can:

Sept 3rd & 4th: The Bellhouse, Brooklyn, New York
Oct 15th & 16th: Circolo Degli Artisti, Rome
Oct 22nd & 23rd: Rock City, Nottingham
Oct 29th & 30th: Whelans, Dublin
Nov 5th & 6th: Trabendo, Paris
Nov 12th and 13th: The Szene, Vienna
Nov 20th & 21st: E-werk, Koln
Nov 27th & 28th: Huxleys, Berlin
Dec 3rd & 4th: Forum, London

This is not the final list. While, unfortunately we are not able to visit every country, we are also looking at possible shows in Brazil, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey and Sweden. More news soon...

It was December last year, they played the Black Market Tavern in Worsop as a warm up date for their christmas tour.I was in a pub down from the venue and the landlord was amazed to find his pub full to the rafters on a weeknight,he didn't believe me when I told him that the band were playing Worsop/London/Paris/Cologne!
It was a great gig,the first time I had seen the band since the Rock City days of the late 80's.
Justin said onstage that the reason they were playing there was because they had played over twenty years ago in the same town as a benefit gig for striking miners.

Must have been a great night, and what a surprise.
I guess you were in the right place at the right time.

What was the name of that pub in Worksop where they used to have a goth night? - a guy called Jason was the DJ for it, (the pub got rid of him as DJ so some people made badges up saying "Jase is Ace"). I went there a few times when I lived in Sheffield in '89 - '90.

Got my tickets for both nights yesterday. Lokking forward to it already.

I asked at Rock City about the number of tickets still available - there's still quite a lot left.

See you there on 22nd & 23rd.

I'm not very good at faces...

Having said that, did you go and see NFD at Junktion 7 a couple of years ago (or it might've been another J7 gig - Ginger? Octavia Sperati? Tokyo Dragons?) - there is a flicker of recognition?

No I was in America up to last Aug.

My leather jacket was quite unique, it was a half scull / half long haired & shades kinda dude on the back.

Anyway, now that you've seen my pic on here, if you see me in The tap give me a shout.

David,
We were suposed to go up to Oregon & Seattle to see them in 2008 & I had even got permission to film both gigs but in the end we didn't make it to either of them.

I was in North California, a cirty called Eureka, really great there, I also spent a short while in San Francisco and I do love that city & will look forward to seing it again.

I guess I missed seeing them in England from 2007 to 2009.

See you on the Saturday night of NMA if we don't meet before that.

You didn't miss much then! From memory they didn't play here in 2007 or 2008,then just the two gigs in Leeds and London in 2009.
Hoping for a few more dates next year.
