Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone

Procession moves on, the shouting is over,
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone.
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables,
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain.
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden,
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky,
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment,
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside.

Cry like a child, though these years make me older,
With children my time is so wastefully spent,
A burden to keep, though their inner communion,
Accept like a curse an unlucky deal.
Played by the gate at the foot of the garden,
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall,
No words could explain, no actions determine,
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall.

One of the great singers... :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Tonight there will be a tribute night in Trix (Antwerp) and I'm going to try to get there in time to shed a few tears in Ians' honour...

Just something that strikes me as odd tho...

Why would people celebrate a day that someone killed himself?

As a tribute to someone, would it not be more appropriate to celebrate someones BIRTHday? :?:

It's not neccessarily a celebration, more of a day of rememberance of such a sad, untimely passing.

According to people and radio stations behaving today, it looks like a festivity...

it's about celebrating his life and his works

and we choose this day to do that, because it's probably the most significant day in his life, as well as being the day that his life and his works ceased.

It also worked for Elvis.

We respect the deceased on their death date.

People have different ways of grieving or reliving the memories...
People have the luck of the music still being alive.

RIP Mr. Curtis.

That kind of music will stay alive forever. I like to believe that it presented a major change.

Indeed forever as we pass it onto generations below us. I couldn't agree with you more although around that time I was a wee one, but still respects that major change.

He had the very rare ability of being able to articulate what was in his heart so that we could all understand/empathize, absolute (tormented) genius. :notworthy:
