Hello friends,

I am going to Hamburg, Germany for the first time and I would like to do a little "Sisters tourism" while I am there. I'm sure this information already exists on this board somewhere, but a search couldn't turn it up for me all conveniently located in one place.

Can someone please show off their knowledge for me, and tell me where Eldritch lived post FALAA, and make any other recommendations of things to see or places to visit?

Hi Bismarck, I don't know where Eldritch lived, allegedly somewhere in St. Pauli, but anyway, make sure you hang out at the Reeperbahn at night. You can see venues like Docks and Große Freiheit 36 where all the big names of undergrond music played, and have a Holsten or Astra beer in a sleazy corner bar

The old Elbtunnel used to be cool for a walk through.

Schulterblatt and Sternschanze ("Schanze") are nice areas, "nice" not exactly in terms of cleanliness

The Chilehaus - expressionist architecture.

Anyway, I guess it's safe to say you don't miss much when you don't see the boring shopping area between Rathaus and Jungfernstieg.

there's an old bar just further up the reeperbahn than the docks, on the opposite side. cant remember the name off the top of my head, but it's one of von's old locals.

a few of us met up there before the gig in february 2009... will see if can track down the 'meet up' thread on here.

Thanks guys, I'll check those places out. I am staying on the Reeperbahn, so I won't miss it for sure. I'll stop by the bars, natch.

What about record shops? Any good ones? I hear The Sisters were pretty big in Germany at one point

Anyway, I appreciate the replies, and I'm looking forward to the trip.

So no one can tell me in which building Eldritch actually lived? It would be interesting for me to see it.

I have been reliably informed that Eldritch lived on 'Hamburger Berg', off the Reeperbahn. He could sometimes be seen in Blauer Peter‎ Bar or Rosie's on the same street.

yes, they were huge, and still everyone knows them. Oh well, everyone over 20++ maybe.

Another suggestion - in one German interview on Youtube, where Eldritch is talking to a guy in a cow suit ( ?!) Eldritch says he likes to get up at 4 in the morning, because the harbor is nice at that time. You can do that

A chick who was a waitress at the time said to me that Eldritch hung out at the Kir Club. But I guess it changed extremely. It was more posh back then.

For record shops, Unterm Durchschnitt in Altona was probably the most remarkable one in Germany, but it no longer exists . The label that exists now is named in honor of the record shop. The guy who did the record shop published early SPK and Laibach (Walter Ulbricht Schallfolien), enrolled in city elections with a satirical political agenda, and did lots of other brilliant stuff. I'm just mentioning that because I have the feeling the important city history might be missing in official Hamburg books

Hafencity still under construction but there's way more to see than on that sattelite image now.

Speicherstadt - you might check out the Miniatur Wunderland there.

Walk through the tunnel and check out the view from the other side here. Beside that there isn't really anything on the other side of the elbe in walking distance so I'd walk back through the tunnel.

Time to have something to eat - if you like fish you may stop at the "Fischerhaus" - inside it looks like time has stopped decades ago but "Goldbarschfilet "Orly" gebacken, mit Kartoffelsalat und Remoulade for 8,70€ is quite tasty (baked redfish with potatoe salad).

Große Elbstrasse/Fischauktionshalle I think the picture at the bottom/right of this article must have been taken somewhere in that area. And the other picture (top/left) is from "Hafenstrasse" - that street where the fish restaurant is.

Now a little secret spot - you can walk up to the rooftop of that shipbody-shaped buildung during daytime/good weather and enjoy the view.

Time to hit a bus and drive towards Hamburg-Blankenese (and buy a bottle of beer but save it) to get here then follow the street "Blankeneser Hauptstrasse" - you'll see an awesome scenery cause this area isn't as plane as it looks like on the sattelite view. After following the street you'll end here. A few steaps ahead you can have a little rest on that beacon, drink your beer (^^) and anjoy the view.

If you like to see more green you can walk the Falkensteiner Ufer. You'll probably end up here where people like to hang around if the weather is neat.

Dunno if you like to see more "Elbe" locations or prefer to get deeper in the actual city from there. Unfortunatelx I'm not really familiar with the publlic transportation in Hamburg (except the few bus/train lines I occasionally use) but I think the official homepage of the HVV can help you with this.

I just wanted to say, while I can't really recommend any Sisters related places to see, I thought Hamburg was one of the nicest cities I've been to and had a lovely 2 days wandering around. Hope you have a great time
