As singles go I personally think "Its a long way to the top (if you want to rock n roll) " by AC/DC takes some beating .....

...... and it has bagpipes too ...... :notworthy:

I thought it was generally accepted that the ultimate 45" single is 'Stand and Deliver' by Adam and the Ants?

it has the bestest ever video too.
think I'll get out me new Romantic clobber...

Nah - if we're talking about the mighty Adam it has to be "Car Trouble"

you might be onto something there... :)

or maybe "there she goes" by the la's. its just pure and perfect pop. everything you would want a pop song to be, and thus by definition the best single (as singles are a pop medium).

I'd say Siouxsie & the Banshees - Cities in Dust.

After hearing that that song on the radio (and later from the 7") I recognized, that there's much more music around than the stuff from the charts - and than "This Corrosion" came out... :von:

Didn't know before...

TOSH! Us oldies all know it's actually 'Kick' :D

Being a Libran I couldn't possibly state one ultimate single. I can sense a "Bestive Fifty" coming on

Well, if it's pop songs were after, you can't beat a bit of Erasure...I'd struggle (AGAIN - fecking star signs..) to name only one but what about 'Stop' for starters?
