A special three band pre-Flock special, featuring the bands we think will be big in 2011!
Each band will be playing a half hour set, so if you haven't seen any of these bands live before, this is the perfect way to check them out!
BERLIN BLACK + ALICE MOVING UNDER SKIES + THE MUMBLES
The Mumbles hail from London, where they combine atmospheric keys with slabs of jet black vocals and some drum machine to season. This time last year they released the album "The Dust Left Behind" which became Mick Mercer's album of the year, described as a "filthy secret". They'll appeal to eighties fans of the Sisters and Joy Division, but upgraded with all the vitriol of the 21st century. Regularly described as having "buckets of potential" (Sphere Magazine), this will be their first visit to Leeds, and definately not their last.
Alice Moving Under Skies have previously played at both Black Sheep and Neverwhere, even filming their video to "Dear Faith" down the Subculture! Beyond the obvious Lewis Carroll influences, AMUS play hard glam-goth rock underpinned by pulsating darkwave beats held together with a Victorian sensibility. Their greatest asset is singer Penny Dreadful’s impressive vocal range, while their polished sound recalls the decadence of Faith And The Muse with raw guitars added in for good measure. (Sphere)
Berlin Black began in 2008 when Chris Banshee (vocals and keyboards) wrote a collection of songs that didn't fit his then band, Screaming Banshee Aircrew. Since the latter's demise, Chris has turned Berlin Black into a full band, including most of his former Banshee bandmates. Berlin Black blur the line between post-punk and glam rock, influenced by "the classic goth bands such as Bauhaus and Siouxsie, along with the greats from the Glam rock era such as Bowie and Iggy Pop". But don't let 'glam rock' tag put you off, Berlin Black embrace the flambouyancy of glam, but their music has a very dark undertone, and a sense of subtlety you wouldn't associate with the genre. (ELG Magazine)

Fear not, I'm not about to start pimping every last gig I run here! I just figured that The Mumbles are kind of a Heartlandy-type band so some of you would want to know that they're playing up north!

It'd have to be a big damn bucket
Have gone into musical consolidation mode and laying down the foundations for something new, although its highly unlikely I'll be lead crooner. I might shout a few "Rev Rev!"s, but I'll get someone with a bit more tone to do the "LOWRIDER" bits if you see what I mean.
