Offer upload, receive bac... err... concert clips?

Hiya.

As you might have seen on this official page, they ask people for help with hosting the Susanne video file.

I offered my unlimited 10Mbit/s connection a year and a half ago, and then six months ago it became an unlimited 100Mbit/s connection that I offered again. I received a response after the first offering saying pretty much: thank you, we'll get back to you when we've had some more offers from people that know what they are talking about.

(In my case they would get a physical server of their own, as well as a public ip of their own.)

So, if anyone else around here has the knowledge, equipment and will to offer upload capacity - please do so. Then we might at least get that video clip up and running again in time for this years tour. (Not that my connection couldn't handle that all by itself, but anyway...)

I don't know how things are nowadays, but I know that internet connections with good upload capacity has been ridiculously expensive in the UK in the past. And overbookd to death, as well. I hope things have changed, but we should be enough people here from other countries.

Ps. Before anyone asks... bacon.

I think it's fascinating that they responded to your mail at all. I mean this was posted 8 years ago when there was still hope for any new product.. and they are still searching for offers?

Though I think Andrew is too "busy" to get this going before the tour, or ever. :?

we offered to host the file when the request first went up 8 years ago and heard nada back :|

i'd assumes they'd sacked it off now, realising that there's no need to host your own video now that everything lives on youtube ;)

November 2009:

Code: Select all

Yes, yes and yes. Thanks.
We'll get back to you, but it may take a while (/forever), because we've had lots of offers... from people who don't know what they're talking about.
The yes section are answers to some technical questions I had.

Aha. Hope they get some more offers then (and then put up some more samples. :innocent: )

way old news. they've moved past the point of needing/bothering with hosting the vid now. it's on YouTube - job done. you're only asking about things that are 5+ years old...

Yes, I know. You know. He knows.

But this is the only way, and a very polite way, I know of to ask him to throw us a bone. Any bone. And in case he would I'd be happy to let it clog up my connection, not that I think that it will actually happen.

Bone? I mean fish! "When's dinner?"

If :von: really wants to offer some downloads he wouldn't ask for help anymore. There is no need to deal with other people to save an expensive web hosting package because that stuff isn't really expensive anymore.
