The act of naming a band is pretty stupid to begin with as it is usually intended to define a place in the market, of what is essentially a stupid industry and getting sillier by the day. The more thoughtful are aware of this so we get some great names which are deliberatively difficult to define. Snow Patrol isn't one of them. Nor are most of the goth genre. Anyway these days most of it is probably done by marketing managers.

I think my examples were valid.
Such examples as
Arcade Fire and Boards Of Canada are not.

Dr Phibes and the House Of Wax Equations - would surely come in the Top 3 of any 'Daft Band Name' contest..
I think the lead singer subsequently went on a psychotic rampage, and killed one (or both) of his parents - thats what happens if you get your band-name all wrong!
