Hello, new here

Hello, I just joined the forum. I couldn't find an introductions area so hopefully posting this here is okay.

I'm a huge Sisters fan, I love all their stuff from the early singles right through to the Vision Thing era. My favorites of their 'new' tracks are Summer and Romeo Down.

Apart from the Sisters I also love David Bowie, Chrome, Pink Floyd, Coil, Jesu, Eurythmics, Clock DVA, Placebo, Einsturzende Neubauten, Loop, Cabaret Voltaire, Faye Wong, Killing Joke, Underworld, Cindytalk, Vangelis, Joy Division, Laibach, Tangerine Dream, Nitzer Ebb, Godflesh, Jean Michel Jarre, Ministry, Kate Bush, Yello...

Looking forward to talking with you all!

Hey there!

With that line-up of musical likes you'll do fine here.

Not sure about admitting you like the Sisters, though - that's very brave  :notworthy:

Hello Jaw! (Is it ok to call you "Jaw"?)
I like all-things-helios, so, I like you already.
Anyway, welcome to the group.
I'm relatively new here, too.

Check out the "Sharing" section when you've got a block of time to spare.
There's some AWESOME bootlegs to upload!

Cheers!

It's an old Chrome song.

It's funny to me someone with a Chrome-related-name showed up today.
I just started on another Helios-kick last night.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Yes my username is from an old Chrome song.. just call me 'Jaw' if it's easier...

Actually early Chrome (Blood On The Moon, Red Exposure, Half Machine Lip Moves, Alien Soundtracks) has a similar feel to the early Sister's EPs and singles... raw lo-fi production, isolation, chemicals, paranoia...

Ah, I thought it was a Judge Dredd reference!

No Judge Dredd connection although I did like some of that 2000AD imagery back in the day... when everyone thought the future was going to be 'cyberpunk'! (including Billy Idol)...

Yeah, I noticed that, too.
Helios' current drummer is the front man for a Sisters tribute band, too.
I'm guessing you already knew that, though.
I've seen a couple of videos from live shows,
and thought their act was pretty good.

I didn't know that, I though his drummer was Rey Washam from Ministry, Rapeman, Scratch Acid etc.

The last I heard about Helios was that he was really sick and had to cancel some shows... also heard some rumours that he was going to do some recordings with Fabienne Shine (Damon Edge's ex-wife) but I don't know if that ever came to fruition...

Nah, this guy's name is Aleph Kali and he's a phenomenal drummer.
The Sisters' tribute band that he fronts is called Reptile House.
I like the way they use the seven-pointed star instead of the fiver.
Here's a link to their MySpace page:
http://www.myspace.com/thereptilehaus

the audio recordings are kinda "meh" but the videos of the live shows
seem to capture some of the old Sisters' magic.
Some time when I'm in the bay area,
I hope to catch one of their acts.
