Official Sisters site renamed

Has anyone else noticed that the official Sisters site has now been renamed as Andreweldritch.com ?

This must have only happened recently.

Is Andrew trying that hard to dissasociate himself from anything remotely to do with goth or any link to the word? (I only ask that because of the other post about bands on the lineup of the festival being too goth for his liking).

I can imagine that if he tries so hard to drop any links with goth (I know he's never called The Sisters a goth band) then it wont be long before they're playing to an audience of one.

The old saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds" comes to mind.

well, the Sisters site works as usual with the original thesistersofmercy.com link ... ...

I really find it funny that this tedious discussion arises again and again.
For me, The Sisters of Mercy have always made music for human beings,
music about what we have to deal with as such, music about what becomes
of our decisions, music about the effects on us through other people's decisions,
music about the limitations as much as about the means of love, will, relations,
and about the impacts, music about dreaming and politics, about drugs and money,
music about our culture, the definitions it involves and the whereabouts of human
development, music with abysses and open doors,
music about trust and need and fear ...

Sorry, I can't define any of these issues as "Goth". All of these things have been,
now as then, challenges and encounters for every living child on earth. Things,
every person has to make their decisions about at their own liberty in
order to survive. Define yourself and/or me as whatever you please.
Though, be aware of the effects in all directions ...
Can you?

You define - youself, your encounter, your view ... and, hell, Sisters meant a way of life some might call goth ... that's okay with me ...

What others might call goth is still a different take, though ...

such a laugh in the morning.
@Being: TSOM is (was) important band on (some phase of) our life. But consider this: stop act like hard-core, only-on-earth-who-understand, lunatic psycho-fan(atic), and don't say so big words because it's only Rock 'n' Roll, Baby. or as Red Forman would say it: "Now stop acting wierd and go mow the lawn dumbass!"
Mr A. Eldritch become very meaningless when he decide to just and only repeating himself on many levels, even on interw. he's not saying anything new.

I'm an "old fan" I guess, and I find all that complaining about how a band changed their clothes more than 20 years ago a bit scary...

and it has been like that for many years, I think maybe even from the begining of the site's existence? I've always thought it's obvious - there is one Andrew Eldritch in the world, and so the domain andreweldritch.com has to be owned by him and it has to point to where it does.

The past is a different country. They play things differently there. Or some such. Sorry, Floodland was a classic. Vision Thing had its great moments. Yeah I'd like new releases but am glad :von: isn't stuck in 1983. It's been and gone. There's a million goth bands who've nicked F&L&A riffs and are still in mid 80s mode. We know how dull they are. Mini-rant over! ;D

I think he is stuck
Otherwise he would have moved on and done something new
Unfortunatenately we are all stuck
I thought they were a goth band, but sort of the best goth band, the one that transcends, but thats just my opinion.
I dont like goth much as a genre, it's a bit too limiting

I couldn't agree more. For me it's a very scary thought to imagine him now, in 2011, as stuck in 1983, or in 1985. I have a question to those of you who miss the 80s Sisters so much, can you honestly confess that you can actually imagine AE as an artist stuck in the 80s, now, without being freaked out by the thought? What songs would he be writing? What albums would he release, with what lyrics, now as a man in his 50s who's been through this and that in his life? What would he wear on stage? To what extent would he seem true? Would you believe him, would you love him, would you still travel to see him perform? Just try to think about it and answer to yourselves. :)

Its romanticism....and yes, although I do think that the Sisters were at their peak in the early-late 80s, that stuff is just so of a certain time and place that I'm glad it's been done and preserved for us all to learn about what real music is like by hearing it. The guy is just being true to himself, and although I'll be the last to deny the fact that F&L&A is goth as hell, given the state of crass self parody that "the scene" is these days (and might even have been all along, I just wasn't there) I don't blame him for not wanting to be associated with those f**king tools. Hell, my last (and only) visit to the godawful Slimelight( and being around the repulsive wankers who populate 99.9999999% of the crowd) affirmed that fully enough for me, so I can only support that statement despite the apparent musical contradiction. When it comes down to it he's still Eldritch, and he's still an Original Bad Motherfucker, so yeah.
