Secret Warm-Up Gig?

Anyone got any whispers about a warm-up secret gig before the tour (ala The Fenton the other year) ? If no real info then interesting rumour might be fun....

the warm-up gigs served as a practice session for the band, who didn't rehearse a whole lot, didn't tour as much as the current lineup, and at a time when none of the other bands members where involved in other projects (and thus might not have been playing their guitars regularly)

they still dont rehearse much until before a tour, but these days all the band members have a dozen other things going on so they're regularly playing gigs in some incarnation or other

if i remember rightly, the first ever warm up was before wembley when the band had never gigged as a unit before

other secret gigs have been at times when the band haven't toured for 18 months or more (eg: 2005)

from what i gather chatting to various people within the sisters camp, the general feeling is that they don't need to do the warm ups anymore

if you also consider that a lot of the folks coming to these 2 leeds birthday gigs will be old "faces" from the leeds scene, and thus will be a ticket-buying member of the audience, the band would be shooting themselves in the foot by organising a freebie gig the day before...

the short answer is that it's unlikely.

the slightly less short answer is that i can't see them doing one again as the main need for them has gone away (from the band's point of view anyway)

Not at all Hom - I don't expect the acoustics and leg room of my garage are everything they've been looking for, but they have an uncynical - if admittedly slightly bewildered - audience in my Uncle Bert and his Yorkshire Terrier, there's free booze (well, leftover Aadvocat from Christmas) and stacks of duty free Camel Lights in the back of my Ford Escort...

Take it away boys - a one - two - three...

I thought we were keeping this quiet.
Is Uncle Bert still on for playing bass on Lucretia?
I was looking forward to that. :innocent:

He's sticking to his guns that the accordion's long overdue for a comeback, I'm afraid - but point taken - from here, let's keep the fever pitch excitement around here on the downlow... 8)

If the masses find out about the planned encore of YCBTO with Bert on the trombone things could really get out of hand.

I posted the other day that I saw Chris' van parked on Cottage Road in Headingley, near Adam's old studio - possibly rehearsing there? Not seen it there since - I pass on the way home from work.

I pass Chris's house on my way home from work every day. I don't take notes of when his van and/or his car are there though, that would be stalking him

I can assure you that they will not be warming up at the Pudsey Sports and Social Club, despite it being within staggering distance of my abode, shame really.

However, The m*****n might be.... LOL

There appeared to be dry ice (rose scented) coming out of the old Lounge cinema this morning though.... No sign of fire engines.... Coincidence?

The Young 'Un always passes comment when we pass it on the way to Vue on Kirkstall Road (Kid's AM Saturday mornings, £1/film - top stuff!).

I did ask this gaunt skinny shaven headed fella what was going on but he just said 'I don't exist if you don't see me....' So nothing to report...
