Do as I say and not as I do

I reckon that the girls won't release another album not because they don't want to, waiting for record label, cost etc... it's because Von ain;t got balls...
He cities Stooges, Pere Ubu, Motorhead etc as influences/bands to aspire to and they churned out classic records in days. Von ain't got the confidence to go into a studio and complete a recording in a week
In a perverse way it keeps him going as fans only get to hear new songs at gigs hence the reason we still go !!!!

Its not perverse, it very very clever.

It's an arrangement that works well enough. OK it's not perfect (we'd all like a shiny new disk) but it works. Von doesn't have to deal with a record company, the band can write new songs at their own pace, and we get to hear them through shows or trading/weeding.

Now those are great comparisons! Motorhead released exactly ONE classic song (and have been repeating it since, for the past, erm, 30 years?), Pere Who?... , and the Stooges split up and never released another album a long long time ago. So you were saying... ?

Oh, I'd buy it in a second if they put out a new album. I honestly think they've got it in them to make a killer record, if only they could be bothered. But as long as they're just playing to ever-diminishing crowds and trotting out one new song a year (if they're lucky), it's not going to hold my interest.
Oh, who am I kidding? I'll still obsessively scan the 2011 Tours section for signs of life. I just don't expect to find any.

Alas, I don't think he cares what I think. Which is probably worse for him than for me

To me, Motorhead's best is Overkill, which as a song, is quite different than Ace. Or Capricorn. Or Chase is Better Than The Catch.
The Stooges released The Weirdness in 2007. You must have missed that one.
Pere Ubu is a not-as-good Fall. But their early stuff is still quite enjoyable.

I know, I was just trying to be polemic
but actually I DID miss the Stooges album

It's not clever at all. He can't be bothered to make a new album, and fewer and fewer people would care even if he did.
A few years ago, I'd be excited at even the slightest inkling of a new song. Now I'm only going to see them because I'm getting in free. And even then, it's only so I can flyer the gig for the March Violets (you know, that band who decided to start touring again, releasing new EPs and a new album, without the pretentions that they're worth a million-dollar advance when they can do it for (and funded by) their fans?)
The Sisters will never have another top 10 hit. They'd be lucky to get top 40 or top 100. How long has it been since the last new song was released? UTG was a cover, with a remake on its b-side. The last fully original "new song" to be released was You Could Be The One,
over 20 years ago.
They'll still have their diehard fans going to their gigs, but that's pretty much it.
tl;dr - they probably won't release anything any more, and even if they did, most people won't care any more. Too little, too late.

Exactly. Yawn! Even if there was a new album the journos would complain it was just goth and the goths would complain it didn't sound goth. And somebody would say they were rubbish after First and Last and Always.

Well, to be honest, you didn't miss much. Kind of like the last Bauhaus album, I don't really consider it part of their real ouvre.

With my pedantic hat on, the whole Vision Thing album came out after. But yes, I take your point.

@ shivarising - agree totally. Overkill rocks!
Sisters wise, it's not interesting anymore. When even a young'n like me walks out of the second night of their 30th gigs in Leeds there's sommat wrong. With them. Not me.
Saying that... I'm saving for a Dublin/London double header...
