I'll also be there for a week in August. Will be my third time there.
Check out Gamla Stan (old town), Sodermalm (trendy part of the city).
For touristy stuff you can go to Skansen and Drottningholm.

All I remember from my trip there 20 years ago was very very very expensive beer, a good museum, and the Wasa (the ship they pulled up from the bottom of the harbour).

Yeah, getting a drink in a bar or restaurant is seriously expensive and the Vasa is worth visiting and very close to Skansen.
