FALAA gatefold Live picture

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but from which gig is that picture?

Must a Black October gig or not?

No hat and the smoke dates it to perhaps early/mid 84?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Not many clues to go on, but is that the ex-Gun Club cloak draped over :von: 's shoulder (arguably the most valuable thing he purloined from that ensemble) ? He used to wear it at the start of gigs then take it off part way through IIRC. Is he retrieving it at the end of a gig ? And judging from the spacing of the monitors, a reasonably big stage from the May 84 tour might be likely.

Do we have any pics of him wearing this cloak? Or are you referring to the velvet frock coat ala "Wake"?

Should be fixed now - I've uploaded the pic to my own server rather than hotlinking to it.

Yep, same photo I think. 8)

Edit to add: The Peel Sessions cover looks like it's from the same session. I'm pretty sure they were taken in St George's Fields

Isn't this session also used for the "through the years" box set ?

 ... and hanging around at the back looking rather embarrassed (that phase didn't last long !) - he clearly hadn't researched the Sisters' dress code.

I blame the bad influence of backcombing and Maisey.

As I said, it's St George's Field in Leeds, and the big building at the left is the Henry Price building (student flats).

Thanks, it looks like a soviet union style building, never fancy them, didn't know they build one in Leeds too.

I heard (although it's probably an urban legend) that the design of the Henry Price building was based on that of a Swedish prison...

Large chunks of Leeds went for the Brutalist style which actually appears to be slightly worse than Stalinist.
