Ah a pity. He was vaguely in the Sisters world having directed Jim Steinman's Pandora's Box 'It's all coming back to me now' video. Yep that one whatshername ruined!

The funeral scene from Mahler disturbed me greatly - once again Big Sis getting her own back on the snivling annoyance called 'me'. Where was the duty of care?
I had nightmares for weeks, refused to go to two grandparents funerals several years later because they were cremations.

I have/had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Mr Russell - was he a misogynist or philogynist? I could never quite put my finger on it. Anyway, he certainly was a pioneer and the film and tv world is a richer, if not slightly sicker
place because of him
One of my favourite visual scenes in
ANY film is here 3mins 55 seconds in (if you want to avoid the gratuitious placement of a bare-chested Roger Daltrey
)

He made some wonderfully insane movies. Sadly missed.

Not to mention Gothic.
Something of a Friday night special when I was a wee goff. Yay for quirky folk, RIP Mr Russell.
