In the second row of the UTR article below , Von says something about his grandfather (apparently making fun of a fan about how well the latter would've gotten along with Eldo's grandfather were he still alive). Like mana from heaven, indeed! Check it out, boils & ghouls!

Well I would assume - based on the reasonable supposition that Von arrived in the world by the commonly accepted manner rather than being, say, spawned in a vat - that he certainly did have a grandfather at some point in time.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Aren't Von's grandfather and Eldo's grandfather the same person?demolitionsisters wrote:In the second row of the UTR article below , Von says something about his grandfather (apparently making fun of a fan about how well the latter would've gotten along with Eldo's grandfather were he still alive). I understand the source of the confusion:stufarq wrote:Aren't Von's grandfather and Eldo's grandfather the same person?demolitionsisters wrote:In the second row of the UTR article below , Von says something about his grandfather (apparently making fun of a fan about how well the latter would've gotten along with Eldo's grandfather were he still alive). demolitionsisters presumably meant "the latter" to refer to "a fan" inside the brackets, whereas it could equally well mean "his grandfather" outside the brackets. And if it means the latter (!) then we're talking about Von's grandfather getting along with Eldo's grandfather.

Exactly. In fact, I worked it out after I'd written the post but decided to post anyway cos it might be vaguely funny. Considering the response I got, I don't actually care any more whether it was or wasn't.markfiend wrote:I understand the source of the confusion:stufarq wrote:Aren't Von's grandfather and Eldo's grandfather the same person?demolitionsisters wrote:In the second row of the UTR article below , Von says something about his grandfather (apparently making fun of a fan about how well the latter would've gotten along with Eldo's grandfather were he still alive).
